次日清早，人民起来，就献上了燔祭，也带来了平安祭；然后他们坐下吃喝，起来玩乐。耶和华对摩西说：“你下山去吧，因为你的人民，就是你从埃及地领出来的，已经败坏了。他们很快就偏离了我吩咐他们的道路，为自己铸造了一个牛像，向它跪拜，向它献祭，说：‘以色列啊，这就是你的神，就是把你从埃及地领出来的那位。’”

他们在何烈山做了牛犊，敬拜铸成的偶像。这样，他们用吃草的牛的像，代替了他们的荣耀的神。

耶和华对我说：‘你起来，从这里赶快下去，因为你从埃及领出来的人已经败坏了，他们很快就偏离了我吩咐他们走的道路，为自己铸造了偶像。’

你们不知道不义的人不能承受神的国吗？不要自欺，无论是行淫乱的、拜偶像的、奸淫的、作娈童的、亲男色的、

但现在我写信告诉你们，如果有称为弟兄，却是行淫乱、贪心、拜偶像、辱骂人、醉酒或勒索的，这样的人，不可和他来往，连和他吃饭都不可。

我观看，见你们自己铸造了牛犊，很快就离开了耶和华吩咐你们走的道路。我拿着那两块石版，从我两手中扔下去，在你们眼前摔碎了。为了你们所犯的一切罪，作了耶和华看为恶的事，惹他发怒，我就像先前那样，俯伏在耶和华面前，四十昼夜，不吃不喝。因为耶和华向你们大发烈怒，要消灭你们，我就很惧怕；但是那一次耶和华也听了我的恳求。耶和华也向亚伦发怒，要消灭他；那时候我也为亚伦祈祷。我把你们的罪，就是你们铸造的牛犊，拿去用火烧了，又把它捣碎，磨成细粉，像灰尘一样；我把这灰尘撒在从山上流下来的溪水中。

所以，我所亲爱的，你们要远避拜偶像的事。

约书亚听见人民呼喊的声音的时候，就对摩西说：“营里有战争的声音。”

亚伦从他们手中接过来，用雕刻的工具雕刻，铸造了一个牛像；他们就说：“以色列啊，这就是你们的神，就是把你从埃及地领出来的那位。”

摩西走近营前的时候，看见了那牛犊，又看见了有人唱歌跳舞，他就发烈怒，把两块法版从他的手中摔掉，在山下把它们摔碎了。

弟兄们，你们在思想上不要作小孩子，却要在恶事上作婴孩，在思想上作成年人。律法上记着说：“主说：我要藉着说别种话的人，用外国人的嘴唇，对这人民说话；虽然这样，他们还是不听我。”可见说方言不是要给信主的人作记号，而是要给未信的人；讲道不是要给未信的人，而是要给信主的人作记号。

不过，这种知识不是人人都有的。有些人直到现在习惯了拜偶像的事，因此他们吃的时候，就把这些食物看作是真的献过给偶像的；他们的良心既然软弱，就被污秽了。
