第二天清晨，百姓都上前來獻燔祭和平安祭，獻完祭後就坐下吃喝，起來狂歡。耶和華對摩西說：「你快下山吧，你的百姓，就是你從埃及領出來的那些人已經敗壞了。他們這麼快就偏離了我吩咐他們走的道路，為自己造了一頭牛犢來叩拜獻祭，說，『以色列人啊，這就是把你們帶出埃及的神明。』」

他們在何烈山鑄造牛犢，祭拜偶像，他們把榮耀的上帝變成了吃草之牛的鑄像。

對我說，『快下山吧，你從埃及領出來的百姓已經敗壞了。他們這麼快就偏離了我吩咐他們走的道，為自己鑄造了神像。』

你們豈不知道不義的人不能承受上帝的國嗎？不要自欺，一切淫亂的、拜偶像的、通姦的、變態的、同性戀的、

我的意思是，若有人自稱是信徒，卻淫亂、貪婪、祭拜偶像、毀謗、酗酒、欺詐，你們不要和他們交往，甚至不要和他們一起吃飯。

看見你們為自己鑄造了牛犢像，得罪了你們的上帝耶和華，這麼快就偏離了耶和華吩咐你們走的道，就當著你們的面摔碎了那兩塊石版。「我又俯伏在耶和華面前，四十晝夜不吃不喝，因為你們犯了大罪，做耶和華憎惡的事，惹祂發怒。耶和華向你們發烈怒，要毀滅你們，我非常懼怕。但耶和華再次垂聽了我的祈求。耶和華對亞倫非常憤怒，以致要殺掉他，於是我也為他祈求。我焚燒了你們鑄造的罪惡之物——牛犢像，把它磨成細粉，撒在從山上流下來的溪水中。

所以，我親愛的弟兄姊妹，你們要遠避祭拜偶像的事。

約書亞聽見山下百姓嘈雜的喊叫聲，便對摩西說：「營地裡有打仗的聲音。」

亞倫用這些金耳環鑄造了一頭牛犢。他們說：「以色列人啊，這就是把你們帶出埃及的神明。」

摩西走近營地的時候，看見牛犢，又看見百姓在跳舞，心中大怒，便把手上的兩塊石版摔碎在山腳下，

弟兄姊妹，你們的思想不要像小孩子，要長大成熟，但在罪惡的事上要像嬰孩。律法書上記載：「主說，『我要藉著講陌生語言的人和外邦人的口向這些子民說話。雖然如此，他們仍然不聽從我。』」由此可見，講方言不是顯給信徒的標記，而是顯給非信徒的標記；但先知講道是顯給信徒的標記，不是顯給非信徒的標記。

不過，並不是所有的人都有這種知識。有些人因為以前拜慣了偶像，現在吃到某些食物就覺得是祭過偶像的，因而良心不安，覺得自己被玷污了。
