Am I now trying to gain the approval of people, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a slave of Christ!

Let each of us please his neighbor for his good to build him up.For even Christ did not please himself, but just as it is written,“ The insults of those who insult you have fallen on me.”

Have you been thinking all this time that we have been defending ourselves to you? We are speaking in Christ before God, and everything we do, dear friends, is to build you up.

if somehow I could provoke my people to jealousy and save some of them.

Apart from other things, there is the daily pressure on me of my anxious concern for all the churches.Who is weak, and I am not weak? Who is led into sin, and I do not burn with indignation?
