谁都不应当求自己的益处，而应当求别人的益处。

我诚然是自由的，不属于任何人，但我使自己成为所有人的奴仆，为了赢得更多的人。对犹太人，我就成为一个像犹太人那样的人，为了赢得犹太人；对律法之下的人，虽然我自己不在律法之下，我却成为一个像是在律法之下的人，为了赢得在律法之下的人；对没有律法的人，我就成为一个像是没有律法的人那样，为了赢得没有律法的人——对神，我不是没有律法的，而是在基督的律法之下。对软弱的人，我就成为软弱的人，为了赢得软弱的人。对什么样的人，我就成为什么样的人，一定要拯救一些人。并且我做这一切，都是为了福音的缘故，好使我能成为在福音上一同有份的人。

我现在到底是要得人的信任，还是要得神的信任呢？难道我是想讨人的喜悦吗？如果我仍然讨人的喜悦，我就不是基督的奴仆了。

我们每个人当为了邻人的益处让他喜悦，使他得造就。因为基督不但不求自己的喜悦，反而像经上所记的：“那些责骂你之人的责骂，都落在我身上了。”

你们一直以为我们是在向你们申辩吗？我们是在基督里，在神面前说话。各位蒙爱的人哪，这一切都是为了造就你们。

或许激起我同胞的嫉妒之心，好拯救他们中的一些人。

除了这些外在的事，还有对各教会的挂虑，天天压在我身上。有谁软弱，我不软弱呢？有谁被绊倒，我不心如火烧呢？
