I am referring to the other person’s conscience, not yours. For why is my freedom being judged by another’s conscience?

我對眾人雖然自由，卻讓自己做了眾人的僕人，為要贏得更多的人。

要禁戒各式各樣的邪惡。

不拘對猶太人、對希利尼人、或對上帝的教會、你們都要不碰倒人才對；

因為我們籌謀行為之美善，不但在主面前，也在人面前。

你若因食物的緣故使你的弟兄憂愁，便不再是依照愛心而行了。基督曾經替他死的人，你可別用你的食物使他失喪了！所以不可讓你們所看為善的受着毁謗。因為上帝的國不在乎喫喝，乃在乎正義和平與喜樂都在聖靈之感動中。本着這種原則來服事基督的、才是上帝所喜歡，又是人所試驗為可嘉的。這樣看來，和平之事、跟彼此建立的事、我們便要追求了。你可別因食物的緣故來拆毁上帝所造的人了！凡物都是潔淨的；但若有人喫東西而帶着碰倒人的事，這在那人就是惡的了。不喫肉，不喝酒，不在任何事上叫你的弟兄碰倒、才是好的。

不過要謹慎，免得你們這權利、竟成了軟弱人的碰腳物。倘若有人見你這「有知識的」在偶像廟裏坐席，他的良知若是軟弱，豈不是要「被建立起來！」去喫祭偶像之物麼？那軟弱的人、基督為他死的那弟兄、也就會因你的「知識」而失喪了！你們這樣犯罪害了弟兄、擊傷了他們的良知、便是犯罪敵對着基督了。所以食物若叫我的弟兄絆跌，我就永遠絕不喫肉，免得使我的弟兄絆跌。
