But as the angel was preparing to destroy Jerusalem, the Lord relented and said to the death angel,“ Stop! That is enough!” At that moment the angel of the Lord was by the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.

But the very next morning the whole community of Israel began muttering again against Moses and Aaron, saying,“ You have killed the Lord’s people!”

And God sent an angel to destroy Jerusalem. But just as the angel was preparing to destroy it, the Lord relented and said to the death angel,“ Stop! That is enough!” At that moment the angel of the Lord was standing by the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.

Do everything without complaining and arguing,

For the Lord will pass through the land to strike down the Egyptians. But when he sees the blood on the top and sides of the doorframe, the Lord will pass over your home. He will not permit his death angel to enter your house and strike you down.

Instead, they grumbled in their tents and refused to obey the Lord.

Their voices rose in a great chorus of protest against Moses and Aaron.“ If only we had died in Egypt, or even here in the wilderness!” they complained.

were struck dead with a plague before the Lord.

It was by faith that Moses commanded the people of Israel to keep the Passover and to sprinkle blood on the doorposts so that the angel of death would not kill their firstborn sons.

Then the people complained and turned against Moses.“ What are we going to drink?” they demanded.

So once more the people complained against Moses.“ Give us water to drink!” they demanded.“ Quiet!” Moses replied.“ Why are you complaining against me? And why are you testing the Lord?”But tormented by thirst, they continued to argue with Moses.“ Why did you bring us out of Egypt? Are you trying to kill us, our children, and our livestock with thirst?”

“ How long must I put up with this wicked community and its complaints about me? Yes, I have heard the complaints the Israelites are making against me.Now tell them this:‘ As surely as I live, declares the Lord, I will do to you the very things I heard you say.You will all drop dead in this wilderness! Because you complained against me, every one of you who is twenty years old or older and was included in the registration will die.You will not enter and occupy the land I swore to give you. The only exceptions will be Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun.

And Moses said to Aaron,“ Quick, take an incense burner and place burning coals on it from the altar. Lay incense on it, and carry it out among the people to purify them and make them right with the Lord. The Lord’s anger is blazing against them— the plague has already begun.”Aaron did as Moses told him and ran out among the people. The plague had already begun to strike down the people, but Aaron burned the incense and purified the people.He stood between the dead and the living, and the plague stopped.But 14,700 people died in that plague, in addition to those who had died in the affair involving Korah.

These people are grumblers and complainers, living only to satisfy their desires. They brag loudly about themselves, and they flatter others to get what they want.

There, too, the whole community of Israel complained about Moses and Aaron.“ If only the Lord had killed us back in Egypt,” they moaned.“ There we sat around pots filled with meat and ate all the bread we wanted. But now you have brought us into this wilderness to starve us all to death.”Then the Lord said to Moses,“ Look, I’m going to rain down food from heaven for you. Each day the people can go out and pick up as much food as they need for that day. I will test them in this to see whether or not they will follow my instructions.On the sixth day they will gather food, and when they prepare it, there will be twice as much as usual.”So Moses and Aaron said to all the people of Israel,“ By evening you will realize it was the Lord who brought you out of the land of Egypt.In the morning you will see the glory of the Lord, because he has heard your complaints, which are against him, not against us. What have we done that you should complain about us?”Then Moses added,“ The Lord will give you meat to eat in the evening and bread to satisfy you in the morning, for he has heard all your complaints against him. What have we done? Yes, your complaints are against the Lord, not against us.”Then Moses said to Aaron,“ Announce this to the entire community of Israel:‘ Present yourselves before the Lord, for he has heard your complaining.’”

And God will provide rest for you who are being persecuted and also for us when the Lord Jesus appears from heaven. He will come with his mighty angels,in flaming fire, bringing judgment on those who don’t know God and on those who refuse to obey the Good News of our Lord Jesus.

Instantly, an angel of the Lord struck Herod with a sickness, because he accepted the people’s worship instead of giving the glory to God. So he was consumed with worms and died.

The enemy who planted the weeds among the wheat is the devil. The harvest is the end of the world, and the harvesters are the angels.“ Just as the weeds are sorted out and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of the world.The Son of Man will send his angels, and they will remove from his Kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil.And the angels will throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

And the Lord sent an angel who destroyed the Assyrian army with all its commanders and officers. So Sennacherib was forced to return home in disgrace to his own land. And when he entered the temple of his god, some of his own sons killed him there with a sword.

Then I heard a mighty voice from the Temple say to the seven angels,“ Go your ways and pour out on the earth the seven bowls containing God’s wrath.”
