But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong;

雖然、世俗所視為愚者、天主則簡拔之、以愧眾哲；世俗所視為弱者、天主則簡拔之、以勝強有力者；

But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.

Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful.

Listen, my beloved brothers, has not God chosen those who are poor in the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom, which he has promised to those who love him?

Where is the one who is wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?

At that time Jesus declared,“ I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children;

Out of the mouth of babies and infants, you have established strength because of your foes, to still the enemy and the avenger.

This Jesus is the stone that was rejected by you, the builders, which has become the cornerstone.And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated, common men, they were astonished. And they recognized that they had been with Jesus.But seeing the man who was healed standing beside them, they had nothing to say in opposition.But when they had commanded them to leave the council, they conferred with one another,saying,“ What shall we do with these men? For that a notable sign has been performed through them is evident to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and we cannot deny it.But in order that it may spread no further among the people, let us warn them to speak no more to anyone in this name.”So they called them and charged them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus.But Peter and John answered them,“ Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you rather than to God, you must judge,for we cannot but speak of what we have seen and heard.”And when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding no way to punish them, because of the people, for all were praising God for what had happened.

therefore, behold, I will again do wonderful things with this people, with wonder upon wonder; and the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the discernment of their discerning men shall be hidden.”

For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds.We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ,

for I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which none of your adversaries will be able to withstand or contradict.

and they said to him,“ Do you hear what these are saying?” And Jesus said to them,“ Yes; have you never read,“‘ Out of the mouth of infants and nursing babies you have prepared praise’?”

But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.

For he has humbled the inhabitants of the height, the lofty city. He lays it low, lays it low to the ground, casts it to the dust.The foot tramples it, the feet of the poor, the steps of the needy.”

But I will leave in your midst a people humble and lowly. They shall seek refuge in the name of the Lord,

For they say,“ His letters are weighty and strong, but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech of no account.”

The meek shall obtain fresh joy in the Lord, and the poor among mankind shall exult in the Holy One of Israel.

After some days Felix came with his wife Drusilla, who was Jewish, and he sent for Paul and heard him speak about faith in Christ Jesus.And as he reasoned about righteousness and self-control and the coming judgment, Felix was alarmed and said,“ Go away for the present. When I get an opportunity I will summon you.”

And some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to him,“ Teacher, rebuke your disciples.”He answered,“ I tell you, if these were silent, the very stones would cry out.”

While walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon( who is called Peter) and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen.And he said to them,“ Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”Immediately they left their nets and followed him.And going on from there he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets, and he called them.Immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.

As Jesus passed on from there, he saw a man called Matthew sitting at the tax booth, and he said to him,“ Follow me.” And he rose and followed him.

Some of the Epicurean and Stoic philosophers also conversed with him. And some said,“ What does this babbler wish to say?” Others said,“ He seems to be a preacher of foreign divinities”— because he was preaching Jesus and the resurrection.

“ This Moses, whom they rejected, saying,‘ Who made you a ruler and a judge?’— this man God sent as both ruler and redeemer by the hand of the angel who appeared to him in the bush.

Then some of those who belonged to the synagogue of the Freedmen( as it was called), and of the Cyrenians, and of the Alexandrians, and of those from Cilicia and Asia, rose up and disputed with Stephen.But they could not withstand the wisdom and the Spirit with which he was speaking.

Now when they heard these things they were enraged, and they ground their teeth at him.
