Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth.

Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when God chose you. Not many of you were considered wise by human standards. Not many of you were powerful. Not many of you belonged to important families.

For consider your calling, brothers: not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth.

Remember, dear brothers and sisters, that few of you were wise in the world’s eyes or powerful or wealthy when God called you.

For consider your calling, brothers and sisters, that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble;

For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called.

For behold your calling, brethren, that not many wise after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:

For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble,[ are called]:

Think about the circumstances of your call, brothers and sisters. Not many were wise by human standards, not many were powerful, not many were born to a privileged position.

For you see your calling, brothers, that not many are wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, and not many noble;

Listen, my dear brothers: Didn’t God choose the poor in this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom that He has promised to those who love Him?

Where is the philosopher? Where is the scholar? Where is the debater of this age? Hasn’t God made the world’s wisdom foolish?

None of the rulers of this age knew this wisdom, for if they had known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

No one should deceive himself. If anyone among you thinks he is wise in this age, he must become foolish so that he can become wise.For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God, since it is written: He catches the wise in their craftiness;and again, The Lord knows that the reasonings of the wise are meaningless.

In that same hour He rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said,“ I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because You have hidden these things from the wise and the learned and have revealed them to infants. Yes, Father, because this was Your good pleasure.

At that time Jesus said,“ I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because You have hidden these things from the wise and learned and revealed them to infants.Yes, Father, because this was Your good pleasure.

Seeing that he became sad, Jesus said,“ How hard it is for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God!For it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.”

We also speak these things, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual things to spiritual people.

Then the proconsul, seeing what happened, believed and was astonished at the teaching about the Lord.

I came to you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling.My speech and my proclamation were not with persuasive words of wisdom but with a powerful demonstration by the Spirit,so that your faith might not be based on men’s wisdom but on God’s power.However, we do speak a wisdom among the mature, but not a wisdom of this age, or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing.

There was a certain royal official whose son was ill at Capernaum.When this man heard that Jesus had come from Judea into Galilee, he went to Him and pleaded with Him to come down and heal his son, for he was about to die.Jesus told him,“ Unless you people see signs and wonders, you will not believe.”“ Sir,” the official said to Him,“ come down before my boy dies!”“ Go,” Jesus told him,“ your son will live.” The man believed what Jesus said to him and departed.While he was still going down, his slaves met him saying that his boy was alive.He asked them at what time he got better.“ Yesterday at seven in the morning the fever left him,” they answered.The father realized this was the very hour at which Jesus had told him,“ Your son will live.” Then he himself believed, along with his whole household.

The brother of humble circumstances should boast in his exaltation,but the one who is rich should boast in his humiliation because he will pass away like a flower of the field.For the sun rises with its scorching heat and dries up the grass; its flower falls off, and its beautiful appearance is destroyed. In the same way, the rich man will wither away while pursuing his activities.

I will leave a meek and humble people among you, and they will take refuge in the name of Yahweh.

Who is wise and has understanding among you? He should show his works by good conduct with wisdom’s gentleness.But if you have bitter envy and selfish ambition in your heart, don’t brag and deny the truth.Such wisdom does not come from above but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic.For where envy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every kind of evil.But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peace-loving, gentle, compliant, full of mercy and good fruits, without favoritism and hypocrisy.

He was with the proconsul, Sergius Paulus, an intelligent man. This man summoned Barnabas and Saul and desired to hear God’s message.

All the saints greet you, but especially those from Caesar’s household.
