余傳基督釘十字架之道、猶太人以為可厭、希利尼人以為不智、

惟我儕宣釘十字架之基督、猶太人視為礙、礙或作可厭希拉人視為愚、

而吾人所傳揚者、乃一被釘於十字架之基督耳。此於猶太人為躓石、於異邦人為愚妄；

but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles,

But we preach about Christ and his death on the cross. That is very hard for Jews to accept. And everyone else thinks it’s foolish.

but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles,

So when we preach that Christ was crucified, the Jews are offended and the Gentiles say it’s all nonsense.

but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to the Jews and foolishness to the Gentiles.

and“ A stone of stumbling And a rock of offense.” They stumble, being disobedient to the word, to which they also were appointed.

But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.

He will be as a sanctuary, But a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense To both the houses of Israel, As a trap and a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.And many among them shall stumble; They shall fall and be broken, Be snared and taken.”

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

And I, brethren, if I still preach circumcision, why do I still suffer persecution? Then the offense of the cross has ceased.

Then Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary His mother,“ Behold, this Child is destined for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign which will be spoken against

But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.

So they were offended at Him. But Jesus said to them,“ A prophet is not without honor except in his own country and in his own house.”

Then Jesus said to them,“ Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you.Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.For My flesh is food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed.He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him.As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on Me will live because of Me.This is the bread which came down from heaven— not as your fathers ate the manna, and are dead. He who eats this bread will live forever.”These things He said in the synagogue as He taught in Capernaum.Therefore many of His disciples, when they heard this, said,“ This is a hard saying; who can understand it?”When Jesus knew in Himself that His disciples complained about this, He said to them,“ Does this offend you?What then if you should see the Son of Man ascend where He was before?It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.But there are some of you who do not believe.” For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and who would betray Him.And He said,“ Therefore I have said to you that no one can come to Me unless it has been granted to him by My Father.”From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more.

And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me.”

O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you that you should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed among you as crucified?

To me, who am less than the least of all the saints, this grace was given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ,

and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are,

Then He said to them,“ Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day,and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

Why? Because they did not seek it by faith, but as it were, by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumbling stone.As it is written:“ Behold, I lay in Zion a stumbling stone and rock of offense, And whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.”

For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus’ sake.

And we are witnesses of all things which He did both in the land of the Jews and in Jerusalem, whom they killed by hanging on a tree.Him God raised up on the third day, and showed Him openly,not to all the people, but to witnesses chosen before by God, even to us who ate and drank with Him after He arose from the dead.And He commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify that it is He who was ordained by God to be Judge of the living and the dead.To Him all the prophets witness that, through His name, whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins.”

saying,‘ I am the God of your fathers— the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’ And Moses trembled and dared not look.‘ Then the Lord said to him,“ Take your sandals off your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground.I have surely seen the oppression of my people who are in Egypt; I have heard their groaning and have come down to deliver them. And now come, I will send you to Egypt.”’“ This Moses whom they rejected, saying,‘ Who made you a ruler and a judge?’ is the one God sent to be a ruler and a deliverer by the hand of the Angel who appeared to him in the bush.
