余傳基督釘十字架之道、猶太人以為可厭、希利尼人以為不智、

惟我儕宣釘十字架之基督、猶太人視為礙、礙或作可厭希拉人視為愚、

而吾人所傳揚者、乃一被釘於十字架之基督耳。此於猶太人為躓石、於異邦人為愚妄；

but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles,

But we preach about Christ and his death on the cross. That is very hard for Jews to accept. And everyone else thinks it’s foolish.

but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles,

So when we preach that Christ was crucified, the Jews are offended and the Gentiles say it’s all nonsense.

but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to the Jews and foolishness to the Gentiles.

but we preach Christ crucified, to Jews a stumbling block, and to Gentiles foolishness,

but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness,

but we preach Christ crucified, unto Jews a stumblingblock, and unto Gentiles foolishness;

but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to the Jews and foolishness to the Gentiles.

But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;

but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews, and foolishness to Greeks,

and a stumbling- stone and a rock to trip over. They stumble because they disobey the word, as they were destined to do.

The unbeliever does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him. And he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.

For I decided to be concerned about nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and him crucified.

He will become a sanctuary, but a stone that makes a person trip, and a rock that makes one stumble– to the two houses of Israel. He will become a trap and a snare to the residents of Jerusalem.Many will stumble over the stone and the rock, and will fall and be seriously injured, and will be ensnared and captured.”

For the message about the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

Now, brothers and sisters, if I am still preaching circumcision, why am I still being persecuted? In that case the offense of the cross has been removed.

Then Simeon blessed them and said to his mother Mary,“ Listen carefully: This child is destined to be the cause of the falling and rising of many in Israel and to be a sign that will be rejected.

But may I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.

And so they took offense at him. But Jesus said to them,“ A prophet is not without honor except in his hometown and in his own house.”

Jesus said to them,“ I tell you the solemn truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in yourselves.The one who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink.The one who eats my flesh and drinks my blood resides in me, and I in him.Just as the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so the one who consumes me will live because of me.This is the bread that came down from heaven; it is not like the bread your ancestors ate, but then later died. The one who eats this bread will live forever.”Jesus said these things while he was teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum.Then many of his disciples, when they heard these things, said,“ This is a difficult saying! Who can understand it?”When Jesus was aware that his disciples were complaining about this, he said to them,“ Does this cause you to be offended?Then what if you see the Son of Man ascending where he was before?The Spirit is the one who gives life; human nature is of no help! The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.But there are some of you who do not believe.”( For Jesus had already known from the beginning who those were who did not believe, and who it was who would betray him.)So Jesus added,“ Because of this I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father has allowed him to come.”After this many of his disciples quit following him and did not accompany him any longer.

Blessed is anyone who takes no offense at me.”

You foolish Galatians! Who has cast a spell on you? Before your eyes Jesus Christ was vividly portrayed as crucified!

To me– less than the least of all the saints– this grace was given, to proclaim to the Gentiles the unfathomable riches of Christ

God chose what is low and despised in the world, what is regarded as nothing, to set aside what is regarded as something,

and said to them,“ Thus it stands written that the Christ would suffer and would rise from the dead on the third day,and repentance for the forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem.

Why not? Because they pursued it not by faith but( as if it were possible) by works. They stumbled over the stumbling stone,just as it is written,“ Look, I am laying in Zion a stone that will cause people to stumble and a rock that will make them fall, yet the one who believes in him will not be put to shame.”

For we do not proclaim ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your slaves for Jesus’ sake.

We are witnesses of all the things he did both in Judea and in Jerusalem. They killed him by hanging him on a tree,but God raised him up on the third day and caused him to be seen,not by all the people, but by us, the witnesses God had already chosen, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.He commanded us to preach to the people and to warn them that he is the one appointed by God as judge of the living and the dead.About him all the prophets testify, that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.”

‘ I am the God of your forefathers, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.’ Moses began to tremble and did not dare to look more closely.But the Lord said to him,‘ Take the sandals off your feet, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.I have certainly seen the suffering of my people who are in Egypt and have heard their groaning, and I have come down to rescue them. Now come, I will send you to Egypt.’This same Moses they had rejected, saying,‘ Who made you a ruler and judge?’ God sent as both ruler and deliverer through the hand of the angel who appeared to him in the bush.
