而吾人所傳揚者、乃一被釘於十字架之基督耳。此於猶太人為躓石、於異邦人為愚妄；

but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles,

But we preach about Christ and his death on the cross. That is very hard for Jews to accept. And everyone else thinks it’s foolish.

but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles,

So when we preach that Christ was crucified, the Jews are offended and the Gentiles say it’s all nonsense.

Now the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him; and he cannot know them, because they are spiritually judged.

For I determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.

For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who it was that should betray him.And he said, For this cause have I said unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it be given unto him of the Father.Upon this many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.

And blessed is he, whosoever shall find no occasion of stumbling in me.

O foolish Galatians, who did bewitch you, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was openly set forth crucified?

Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, was this grace given, to preach unto the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ;

and the base things of the world, and the things that are despised, did God choose, yea and the things that are not, that he might bring to nought the things that are:

and he said unto them, Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer, and rise again from the dead the third day;and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name unto all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem.

Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by works. They stumbled at the stone of stumbling;even as it is written, Behold, I lay in Zion a stone of stumbling and a rock of offence: And he that believeth on him shall not be put to shame.

For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake.

And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the country of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom also they slew, hanging him on a tree.Him God raised up the third day, and gave him to be made manifest,not to all the people, but unto witnesses that were chosen before of God, even to us, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.And he charged us to preach unto the people, and to testify that this is he who is ordained of God to be the Judge of the living and the dead.To him bear all the prophets witness, that through his name every one that believeth on him shall receive remission of sins.

I am the God of thy fathers, the God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob. And Moses trembled, and durst not behold.And the Lord said unto him, Loose the shoes from thy feet: for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.I have surely seen the affliction of my people that is in Egypt, and have heard their groaning, and I am come down to deliver them: and now come, I will send thee into Egypt.This Moses whom they refused, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge? him hath God sent to be both a ruler and a deliverer with the hand of the angel that appeared to him in the bush.
