上帝運用自己的智慧不讓世人憑自己的智慧去認識祂，祂樂意採用世人看為愚昧的道理去拯救那些相信的人，這就是上帝的智慧。

世人凭自己的智慧，既不认识神，神就乐意用人所当作愚拙的道理拯救那些信的人；这就是神的智慧了。

既然世人凭自己的智慧不认识上帝，上帝就本着自己的智慧乐意藉着人所传愚拙的话拯救那些信的人。

實際上，在神的智慧中，世界既然憑智慧不認識神，神就樂意藉著傳道的愚拙，拯救那些相信的人。

蓋世既依上帝之智、而自恃己智不識上帝、故上帝喜以若愚之道救諸信者、

世人恃其智、不識上帝、故上帝喜以若愚之道、救諸信者、斯上帝之智也、

世既以智不識天主、則天主喜以宣道之愚、救諸信者、此乃天主之智也、

蓋按天主之上智、世俗之智、既不足以認識天主、故天主甘用若愚之道以救信眾。

For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe.

God wisely planned that the world would not know him through its own wisdom. It pleased God to use the foolish things we preach to save those who believe.

For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, it pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who believe.

Since God in his wisdom saw to it that the world would never know him through human wisdom, he has used our foolish preaching to save those who believe.

For since, in God’s wisdom, the world did not know God through wisdom, God was pleased to save those who believe through the foolishness of what is preached.

For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not come to know God, God was pleased through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe.

For seeing that in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom knew not God, it was God’s good pleasure through the foolishness of the preaching to save them that believe.

就在這時候，耶穌受聖靈感動，充滿喜樂地說：「父啊，天地的主，我頌讚你！因為你把這些事向聰明、有學問的人隱藏起來，卻啟示給像孩童一般的人。父啊！是的，這正是你的美意。

但對於蒙召的人，無論是猶太人還是希臘人，基督是上帝的能力、上帝的智慧。

那時，耶穌說：「父啊，天地的主，我頌讚你，因為你把這些事向聰明、有學問的人隱藏起來，卻啟示給像孩童一般的人。

說：「上帝的名永永遠遠當受稱頌，因為智慧和能力都屬於祂。

既然他們故意不認識上帝，上帝就任憑他們心思敗壞，做不當做的事。

目的是為了透過教會讓天上的執政者和掌權者現在可以看出上帝豐富的智慧。

自從創造天地以來，上帝永恆的大能和神性是明明可知的，雖然肉眼看不見，但透過受造之物就可以領悟，因而人類毫無藉口推說不知。他們雖然明知有上帝，卻不把祂當作上帝，既不將榮耀歸給祂，也不感謝祂。他們的思想因此變得荒謬無用，無知的心也變得昏暗不明。他們自以為聰明，其實愚不可及，

啊，上帝的智慧和知識多麼博大精深！祂的判斷多麼難測！祂的蹤跡多麼難尋！
