智慧人在哪里？经文士在哪里？这世代的雄辩家在哪里？神难道不使这世界的智慧成了愚拙吗？

而今哲人安在哉？經師安在哉？世之辯士又安在哉？此非天主已使世俗之智化為下愚乎？

Where is the wise person? Where is the teacher of the law? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?

So where does this leave the philosophers, the scholars, and the world’s brilliant debaters? God has made the wisdom of this world look foolish.

Where is the philosopher? Where is the scholar? Where is the debater of this age? Hasn’t God made the world’s wisdom foolish?

Where is the wise man? Where is the expert in the Mosaic law? Where is the debater of this age? Has God not made the wisdom of the world foolish?

Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the lawyer of this world? Hasn’t God made foolish the wisdom of this world?

Professing to be wise, they became fools,

For it is written:“ I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, And bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.”

He leads counselors away plundered, And makes fools of the judges.

Who frustrates the signs of the babblers, And drives diviners mad; Who turns wise men backward, And makes their knowledge foolishness;

Your heart will meditate on terror:“ Where is the scribe? Where is he who weighs? Where is he who counts the towers?”

Now when Ahithophel saw that his advice was not followed, he saddled a donkey, and arose and went home to his house, to his city. Then he put his household in order, and hanged himself, and died; and he was buried in his father’s tomb.

So Absalom and all the men of Israel said,“ The advice of Hushai the Archite is better than the advice of Ahithophel.” For the Lord had purposed to defeat the good advice of Ahithophel, to the intent that the Lord might bring disaster on Absalom.

Who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?

For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written,“ He catches the wise in their own craftiness”;

However, we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing.

He deprives the trusted ones of speech, And takes away the discernment of the elders.

He takes away the understanding of the chiefs of the people of the earth, And makes them wander in a pathless wilderness.

Then someone told David, saying,“ Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom.” And David said,“ O Lord, I pray, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness!”

Now the advice of Ahithophel, which he gave in those days, was as if one had inquired at the oracle of God. So was all the advice of Ahithophel both with David and with Absalom.

Surely the princes of Zoan are fools; Pharaoh’s wise counselors give foolish counsel. How do you say to Pharaoh,“ I am the son of the wise, The son of ancient kings?”Where are they? Where are your wise men? Let them tell you now, And let them know what the Lord of hosts has purposed against Egypt.
