而今哲人安在哉？經師安在哉？世之辯士又安在哉？此非天主已使世俗之智化為下愚乎？

So where does this leave the philosophers, the scholars, and the world’s brilliant debaters? God has made the wisdom of this world look foolish.

Where is the philosopher? Where is the scholar? Where is the debater of this age? Hasn’t God made the world’s wisdom foolish?

Where is the wise man? Where is the expert in the Mosaic law? Where is the debater of this age? Has God not made the wisdom of the world foolish?

他們自稱為有智慧，反而成了愚拙，

因為經上記着說：『我要除滅智慧人的智慧，廢棄聰明人的聰明。』

他把謀士擄去，衣服都給剝奪了；他使審判官變成了狂妄人。

是那使信口胡謅者的兆頭無效的，使占卜者變成了狂妄人，使智慧人退後，使他們的智識變為愚拙的，

你的心必回想已往的恐怖，說：『那記數目的在哪裏？那平貢銀的在哪裏？那數點譙樓的又在哪裏呢？』

亞希多弗見自己的計謀不蒙採納施行，就豫備了驢，往本城自己家去；立了遺囑理家事，便上吊死了；被埋葬在他父親的墳墓裏。

押沙龍和以色列眾人都說：『亞基人戶篩的計謀比亞希多弗的計謀更好。』這是因為永恆主命定要破壞亞希多弗的好計謀，為要降災禍於押沙龍的。

我們所聽見的、有誰能相信呢？永恆主的膀臂向誰現露過呢？

因為這世界的智慧、在上帝看就是愚拙。如經上記着說：『上帝用智慧人自己的狡猾、去抓住他們』；

其實在成熟的人中間、我們倒也講智慧。可不是今世的智慧，又不是今世那些漸被消滅的執政者的智慧；

他把受信靠者的口才廢掉，又將老年人的謹慎智慮奪去。

他將地上萬族之民的首領聰明之心除掉，使他們在荒蕪沒路之地漂流無定。

有人告訴大衛說：『亞希多弗也在反叛的人中間、同押沙龍在一起呢。』大衛就說：『永恆主啊，求你使亞希多弗的計謀變為愚拙。』

當那些日子、亞希多弗所定的計謀都像人求問上帝得來的話一樣；凡亞希多弗的計謀無論是為大衛定的、是為押沙龍定的、都是這樣。

瑣安的首領極其愚昧，法老大有智慧的謀士所設的乃是畜類無知的計謀。你們怎敢對法老說：『我是智慧人的兒子，我是古時君王的子孫』呢？那麼你的智慧人在哪裏呢？萬軍之永恆主對責罰埃及所定的旨意、他們儘可以告訴你，儘可以播知出來呀。
