自稱為智、反成愚魯、

經載云、我將滅智者之智、廢慧者之慧、

使謀士陷於差謬、或作使謀臣被擄使士師顛狂、

使偽先知所言預兆無驗、使卜筮者顯為愚、使智慧人退後、使其靈巧變為愚拙、

爾心追思已往之危、必自問曰、會計稅金者今安在、權衡貢物者今安在、指數樓臺樓臺或作戍樓者今安在、

亞希多弗見不用其計、則備驢返故邑、至己家、留遺言、自縊而死、葬於父墓、○

押沙龍及以色列人曰、亞基人戶篩之計、較亞希多弗之計尤善、蓋主使亞希多弗之善計、廢而不用、以降禍於押沙龍、

我儕所傳者、我儕所傳者或作所傳於我儕者有誰信之、主之聖臂、顯示於誰、

蓋此世之智、在天主前為愚、如經載云、主令智者自中其詭計、

然我儕與全備之人無不言智慧、但非斯世之智慧、亦非斯世有權位終必滅者之智慧、

使素有口才者、素有口才者或作盡忠者言詞遲純、使老者昧其知識、

使國之民長、失其慧心、使之迷於無路之野、

或告大衛曰、亞希多弗亦在判黨之中、從押沙龍、大衛禱曰、求主敗亞希多弗之謀、或作亞希多弗定謀求主使人視為愚

當時亞希多弗定謀、人視之如問天主之言、昔為大衛定謀、今為押沙龍定謀、皆如是也、

瑣安之候伯、盡為愚蒙、法老謀士之智者、其謀忽成拙計、焉能告法老曰、我乃先賢之後、古王之裔哉、爾之智慧者安在、萬有之主為伊及所定之謀、謀或作命下同彼當知之、當告爾、
