这个世代所谓的智者、学者、雄辩家在哪里？上帝岂不是把这世上的智慧都变成愚昧了吗？

智慧人在哪里？经学家在哪里？今世的辩士在哪里？神不是使属世的智慧变成了愚笨吗？

智慧人在哪里？经文士在哪里？这世代的雄辩家在哪里？神难道不使这世界的智慧成了愚拙吗？

智慧人在哪裏？文士在哪裏？這世上的辯士在哪裏？上帝豈不是已使這世上的智慧變成愚拙了嗎？

智者安在、士子安在、斯世之辯者安在、豈非上帝使世之智為愚乎、

智者安在、士子安在、世之辯者又安在、豈非上帝以此世之智為不智乎、

智者安在、經士安在、斯世之辯士安在、天主豈非使斯世之智為愚乎、

而今哲人安在哉？經師安在哉？世之辯士又安在哉？此非天主已使世俗之智化為下愚乎？

Where is the wise person? Where is the teacher of the law? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?

Where is the one who is wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?

So where does this leave the philosophers, the scholars, and the world’s brilliant debaters? God has made the wisdom of this world look foolish.

Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?

Where is the philosopher? Where is the scholar? Where is the debater of this age? Hasn’t God made the world’s wisdom foolish?

Where is the wise man? Where is the expert in the Mosaic law? Where is the debater of this age? Has God not made the wisdom of the world foolish?

Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the lawyer of this world? Hasn’t God made foolish the wisdom of this world?

自稱為聰明，反成了愚拙，

就如經上所記：我要滅絕智慧人的智慧，廢棄聰明人的聰明。

他把謀士剝衣擄去，又使審判官變成愚人。

使說假話的兆頭失效，使占卜的癲狂，使智慧人退後，使他的知識變為愚拙；

你的心必思想那驚嚇的事，自問說：記數目的在哪裏呢？平貢銀的在哪裏呢？數戍樓的在哪裏呢？

亞希多弗見不依從他的計謀，就備上驢，歸回本城；到了家，留下遺言，便吊死了，葬在他父親的墳墓裏。

押沙龍和以色列眾人說：「亞基人戶篩的計謀比亞希多弗的計謀更好！」這是因耶和華定意破壞亞希多弗的良謀，為要降禍與押沙龍。

我們所傳的有誰信呢？耶和華的膀臂向誰顯露呢？

因這世界的智慧，在神看是愚拙。如經上記着說：「主叫有智慧的，中了自己的詭計」；

然而，在完全的人中，我們也講智慧。但不是這世上的智慧，也不是這世上有權有位、將要敗亡之人的智慧。

他廢去忠信人的講論，又奪去老人的聰明。

他將地上民中首領的聰明奪去，使他們在荒廢無路之地漂流；

有人告訴大衛說：「亞希多弗也在叛黨之中，隨從押沙龍。」大衛禱告說：「耶和華啊，求你使亞希多弗的計謀變為愚拙！」

那時亞希多弗所出的主意好像人問神的話一樣；他昔日給大衛，今日給押沙龍所出的主意，都是這樣。

瑣安的首領極其愚昧；法老大有智慧的謀士，所籌劃的成為愚謀。你們怎敢對法老說：我是智慧人的子孫，我是古王的後裔？你的智慧人在哪裏呢？萬軍之耶和華向埃及所定的旨意，他們可以知道，可以告訴你吧！
