这个世代所谓的智者、学者、雄辩家在哪里？上帝岂不是把这世上的智慧都变成愚昧了吗？

智慧人在哪里？经学家在哪里？今世的辩士在哪里？神不是使属世的智慧变成了愚笨吗？

智者安在、經士安在、斯世之辯士安在、天主豈非使斯世之智為愚乎、

而今哲人安在哉？經師安在哉？世之辯士又安在哉？此非天主已使世俗之智化為下愚乎？

Where is the wise person? Where is the teacher of the law? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?

So where does this leave the philosophers, the scholars, and the world’s brilliant debaters? God has made the wisdom of this world look foolish.

Where is the philosopher? Where is the scholar? Where is the debater of this age? Hasn’t God made the world’s wisdom foolish?

Where is the wise man? Where is the expert in the Mosaic law? Where is the debater of this age? Has God not made the wisdom of the world foolish?

他們自稱是有智慧的，卻成了愚拙，

因為經上記著：「我將要毀滅智慧人的智慧，廢棄聰明人的聰明。」

我破壞假先知的預兆，使占卜者顯為愚妄；我顛覆了智慧人，使他們的知識變為愚拙；

你的心回想那些恐怖的事，就說：「記數的人在哪裡？計量的人在哪裡？數點塔樓的人又在哪裡？」

亞希多弗見自己的建議沒有被採納，就給驢子備上鞍，起身回本鄉本家去。他安排好家裡的事，然後上吊死了。他被葬在他父親的墳墓裡。

押沙龍和以色列眾人都說：「亞基人戶篩的建議比亞希多弗的建議好。」耶和華定意要破壞亞希多弗的好建議，好降災禍給押沙龍。

我們所傳的，有誰相信了？耶和華的膀臂向誰顯現了？

因為在神看來，這世界的智慧就是愚拙；原來經上記著：「神使智慧人落入自己的詭計中」；

然而，在成熟的人中間，我們也講智慧，但不是這世代的智慧，也不是這世代中將要被廢除的那些統治者的智慧。

有人向大衛報告說：「亞希多弗也在叛黨中，隨從押沙龍。」大衛就禱告：「耶和華啊，求你使亞希多弗的謀略變為愚拙！」

在那些日子，亞希多弗所提的建議如同人向神求得的話語。亞希多弗的所有建議，無論是給大衛的還是給押沙龍的，都是如此。

瑣安的首領們極其愚妄，法老最智慧的謀士們所出的謀略都是愚拙！你們怎麼能對法老說「我是智慧人的子孫，是古代君王的後裔」？你的智慧人在哪裡呢？讓他們告訴你吧，讓他們去明白萬軍之耶和華對埃及所策劃的！
