The king said also to Zadok the priest,“ Aren’t you a seer? Return into the city in peace, and your two sons with you, Ahimaaz your son, and Jonathan the son of Abiathar.

Zadok the son of Ahitub and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar were priests, Seraiah was scribe,

Now Jonathan and Ahimaaz were staying by En Rogel; and a female servant used to go and tell them; and they went and told king David. For they might not be seen to come into the city.

Then Hushai said to Zadok and to Abiathar the priests,“ Ahithophel counseled Absalom and the elders of Israel that way; and I have counseled this way.

Let Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet anoint him there king over Israel. Blow the trumpet, and say,‘ Long live king Solomon!’

Then Ahimaaz the son of Zadok said yet again to Joab,“ But come what may, please let me also run after the Cushite.” Joab said,“ Why do you want to run, my son, since you will have no reward for the news?”

The king put Benaiah the son of Jehoiada in his place over the army; and the king put Zadok the priest in the place of Abiathar.

Don’t you have Zadok and Abiathar the priests there with you? Therefore whatever you hear out of the king’s house, tell it to Zadok and Abiathar the priests.Behold, they have there with them their two sons, Ahimaaz, Zadok’s son, and Jonathan, Abiathar’s son. Send to me everything that you shall hear by them.”

Then Ahimaaz the son of Zadok said,“ Let me now run and carry the king news, how Yahweh has avenged him of his enemies.”

The king has sent with him Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and they have caused him to ride on the king’s mule.

The watchman said,“ I think the running of the first one is like the running of Ahimaaz the son of Zadok.” The king said,“ He is a good man, and comes with good news.”Ahimaaz called, and said to the king,“ All is well.” He bowed himself before the king with his face to the earth, and said,“ Blessed is Yahweh your God, who has delivered up the men who lifted up their hand against my lord the king!”The king said,“ Is it well with the young man Absalom?” Ahimaaz answered,“ When Joab sent the king’s servant, even me your servant, I saw a great tumult, but I don’t know what it was.”

Absalom’s servants came to the woman to the house; and they said,“ Where are Ahimaaz and Jonathan?” The woman said to them,“ They have gone over the brook of water.” When they had sought and could not find them, they returned to Jerusalem.

Sheva was scribe, and Zadok and Abiathar were priests,

But Zadok the priest, Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, Nathan the prophet, Shimei, Rei, and the mighty men who belonged to David, were not with Adonijah.
