In the hill country of Ephraim they were given Shechem( a city of refuge), and Gezer,

In the hill country of Ephraim they received Shechem. Shechem was a city where people could go for safety. The Kohathites also received Gezer,

They were given the cities of refuge: Shechem with its pasturelands in the hill country of Ephraim, Gezer with its pasturelands,

[ For] Pharaoh king of Egypt had gone up, and taken Gezer, and burnt it with fire, and slain the Canaanites that dwelt in the city, and given it[ for] a present unto his daughter, Solomon’s wife.

And they drave not out the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer: but the Canaanites dwell among the Ephraimites unto this day, and serve under tribute.

And they appointed Kedesh in Galilee in mount Naphtali, and Shechem in mount Ephraim, and Kirjatharba, which[ is] Hebron, in the mountain of Judah.

And Jacob came to Shalem, a city of Shechem, which[ is] in the land of Canaan, when he came from Padanaram; and pitched his tent before the city.

The king of Eglon, one; the king of Gezer, one;

And goeth down westward to the coast of Japhleti, unto the coast of Bethhoron the nether, and to Gezer: and the goings out thereof are at the sea.
