耶羅波安卻在猶大人的後頭設伏兵。這樣，以色列人在猶大人的前頭，伏兵在猶大人的後頭。猶大人回頭觀看，見前後都有敵兵，就呼求耶和華，祭司也吹號。於是猶大人吶喊；猶大人吶喊的時候，神就使耶羅波安和以色列眾人敗在亞比雅與猶大人面前。

撒母耳將一塊石頭立在米斯巴和善的中間，給石頭起名叫以便以謝，說：「到如今耶和華都幫助我們。」

車兵長看見約沙法，便說：「這必是以色列王！」就轉過去與他爭戰，約沙法便呼喊。

摩西何時舉手，以色列人就得勝，何時垂手，亞瑪力人就得勝。

神是我們的避難所，是我們的力量，是我們在患難中隨時的幫助。

叫他的榮耀從我們這首先在基督裏有盼望的人可以得着稱讚。

因為耶和華－神是日頭，是盾牌，要賜下恩惠和榮耀。他未嘗留下一樣好處不給那些行動正直的人。萬軍之耶和華啊，倚靠你的人便為有福！

掃羅又打發人去看大衛，說：「當連牀將他擡來，我好殺他。」
