耶羅波安卻派伏兵繞到猶大人的背後。這樣，猶大人前面有以色列人，他們背後也有伏兵。猶大人轉身，看見自己前後受敵，就呼求耶和華，祭司也都吹號。於是猶大人大聲吶喊；猶大人大聲吶喊的時候，神就在亞比雅和猶大人面前，使耶羅波安和以色列眾人大敗而逃。

撒母耳搬來了一塊石頭，把它豎立在米斯巴和善之間，給這塊石頭起名叫以便以謝，說：“直到現在，耶和華都幫助我們。”

戰車長們看見約沙法的時候，就說：“這人必是以色列王。”他們就轉過去與他爭戰，約沙法便喊叫起來。

摩西舉起手來的時候，以色列人就得勝；摩西把手放下來的時候，亞瑪力人就得勝。

希西家王和亞摩斯的兒子以賽亞先知為了這事禱告，向天呼求。耶和華就差派一位使者，進入亞述王的軍營中，把所有英勇的戰士、官長和將帥，盡都消滅了。亞述王滿面羞愧返回本國去了。他進入自己的神廟的時候，他親生的兒子在那裡用刀把他殺了。

神是我們的避難所，是我們的力量，是我們在患難中隨時都可得到的幫助。

藉著我們這在基督裡首先有盼望的人，使他的榮耀得著頌讚。

因為耶和華神是太陽，是盾牌，耶和華賜下恩惠和光榮；他沒有留下一樣好處，不給那些行為正直的人。萬軍之耶和華啊！倚靠你的人是有福的。

掃羅又派人去看大衛說：“你們把他連床一起抬到我這裡來，我好殺死他。”
