Then the leaders of families, the officers of the tribes of Israel, the commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds, and the officials in charge of the king’s work gave willingly.

Many people were willing to give. They included the leaders of families and the officers of the tribes of Israel. They included the commanders of thousands of men and commanders of hundreds. They also included the officials who were in charge of the king’s work.

Then the leaders of fathers’ houses made their freewill offerings, as did also the leaders of the tribes, the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, and the officers over the king’s work.

Then the family leaders, the leaders of the tribes of Israel, the generals and captains of the army, and the king’s administrative officers all gave willingly.

Then the leaders of the households, the leaders of the tribes of Israel, the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, and the officials in charge of the king’s work gave willingly.

Then the rulers of the fathers’ households, the leaders of the tribes of Israel, and the commanders of thousands and hundreds, with the supervisors of the king’s work, offered willingly;

The leaders of the families, the leaders of the Israelite tribes, the commanders of units of a thousand and a hundred, and the supervisors of the king’s work contributed willingly.

Then the princes of the fathers’ households, and the princes of the tribes of Israel, and the captains of thousands and of hundreds, with the rulers over the king’s work, offered willingly;

Now the children of Israel after their number,[ to wit], the chief fathers and captains of thousands and hundreds, and their officers that served the king in any matter of the courses, which came in and went out month by month throughout all the months of the year, of every course[ were] twenty and four thousand.Over the first course for the first month[ was] Jashobeam the son of Zabdiel: and in his course[ were] twenty and four thousand.Of the children of Perez[ was] the chief of all the captains of the host for the first month.And over the course of the second month[ was] Dodai an Ahohite, and of his course[ was] Mikloth also the ruler: in his course likewise[ were] twenty and four thousand.The third captain of the host for the third month[ was] Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, a chief priest: and in his course[ were] twenty and four thousand.This[ is that] Benaiah,[ who was] mighty[ among] the thirty, and above the thirty: and in his course[ was] Ammizabad his son.The fourth[ captain] for the fourth month[ was] Asahel the brother of Joab, and Zebadiah his son after him: and in his course[ were] twenty and four thousand.The fifth captain for the fifth month[ was] Shamhuth the Izrahite: and in his course[ were] twenty and four thousand.The sixth[ captain] for the sixth month[ was] Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite: and in his course[ were] twenty and four thousand.The seventh[ captain] for the seventh month[ was] Helez the Pelonite, of the children of Ephraim: and in his course[ were] twenty and four thousand.The eighth[ captain] for the eighth month[ was] Sibbecai the Hushathite, of the Zarhites: and in his course[ were] twenty and four thousand.The ninth[ captain] for the ninth month[ was] Abiezer the Anetothite, of the Benjamites: and in his course[ were] twenty and four thousand.The tenth[ captain] for the tenth month[ was] Maharai the Netophathite, of the Zarhites: and in his course[ were] twenty and four thousand.The eleventh[ captain] for the eleventh month[ was] Benaiah the Pirathonite, of the children of Ephraim: and in his course[ were] twenty and four thousand.The twelfth[ captain] for the twelfth month[ was] Heldai the Netophathite, of Othniel: and in his course[ were] twenty and four thousand.

And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.Lift up thine eyes round about, and see: all they gather themselves together, they come to thee: thy sons shall come from far, and thy daughters shall be nursed at[ thy] side.Then thou shalt see, and flow together, and thine heart shall fear, and be enlarged; because the abundance of the sea shall be converted unto thee, the forces of the Gentiles shall come unto thee.The multitude of camels shall cover thee, the dromedaries of Midian and Ephah; all they from Sheba shall come: they shall bring gold and incense; and they shall shew forth the praises of the LORD.All the flocks of Kedar shall be gathered together unto thee, the rams of Nebaioth shall minister unto thee: they shall come up with acceptance on mine altar, and I will glorify the house of my glory.Who[ are] these[ that] fly as a cloud, and as the doves to their windows?Surely the isles shall wait for me, and the ships of Tarshish first, to bring thy sons from far, their silver and their gold with them, unto the name of the LORD thy God, and to the Holy One of Israel, because he hath glorified thee.And the sons of strangers shall build up thy walls, and their kings shall minister unto thee: for in my wrath I smote thee, but in my favour have I had mercy on thee.

Every man according as he purposeth in his heart,[ so let him give]; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

And over the king’s treasures[ was] Azmaveth the son of Adiel: and over the storehouses in the fields, in the cities, and in the villages, and in the castles,[ was] Jehonathan the son of Uzziah:And over them that did the work of the field for tillage of the ground[ was] Ezri the son of Chelub:And over the vineyards[ was] Shimei the Ramathite: over the increase of the vineyards for the wine cellars[ was] Zabdi the Shiphmite:And over the olive trees and the sycomore trees that[ were] in the low plains[ was] Baalhanan the Gederite: and over the cellars of oil[ was] Joash:And over the herds that fed in Sharon[ was] Shitrai the Sharonite: and over the herds[ that were] in the valleys[ was] Shaphat the son of Adlai:Over the camels also[ was] Obil the Ishmaelite: and over the asses[ was] Jehdeiah the Meronothite:And over the flocks[ was] Jaziz the Hagerite. All these[ were] the rulers of the substance which[ was] king David’s.Also Jonathan David’s uncle was a counsellor, a wise man, and a scribe: and Jehiel the son of Hachmoni[ was] with the king’s sons:And Ahithophel[ was] the king’s counsellor: and Hushai the Archite[ was] the king’s companion:And after Ahithophel[ was] Jehoiada the son of Benaiah, and Abiathar: and the general of the king’s army[ was] Joab.And David assembled all the princes of Israel, the princes of the tribes, and the captains of the companies that ministered to the king by course, and the captains over the thousands, and captains over the hundreds, and the stewards over all the substance and possession of the king, and of his sons, with the officers, and with the mighty men, and with all the valiant men, unto Jerusalem.
