It would eat scraps from him and drink from his cup and lie in his lap, And was like a daughter to him.Now a visitor came to the wealthy man, And he could not bring himself to take any animal from his own flock or his own herd, To prepare for the traveler who had come to him; So he took the poor man’s ewe lamb and prepared it for the man who had come to him.”Then David’s anger burned greatly against the man, and he said to Nathan,“ As the Lord lives, the man who has done this certainly deserves to die!So he must make restitution for the lamb four times over, since he did this thing and had no compassion.”Nathan then said to David,“ You yourself are the man! This is what the Lord, the God of Israel says:‘ It is I who anointed you as king over Israel, and it is I who rescued you from the hand of Saul.

The Lord spoke to Gad, David’s seer, saying,“ Go and speak to David, saying,‘ This is what the Lord says:“ I extend to you three choices; choose for yourself one of them, which I will do to you.” ’ ”So Gad came to David and said to him,“ This is what the Lord says:‘ Take for yourself

that the king said to Nathan the prophet,“ See now, I live in a house of cedar, but the ark of God remains within the tent.”Nathan said to the king,“ Go, do all that is in your mind, for the Lord is with you.”But in the same night, the word of the Lord came to Nathan, saying,

Now the rest of the acts of Solomon and whatever he did, and his wisdom, are they not written in the Book of the Acts of Solomon?

And what more shall I say? For time will fail me if I tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, of David and Samuel and the prophets,who by faith conquered kingdoms, performed acts of righteousness, obtained promises, shut the mouths of lions,

Now as for the rest of the acts of Rehoboam and all that he did, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah?
