Samuel the prophet had set apart some things for God. Saul, the son of Kish, had set apart other things. So had Abner, the son of Ner. And so had Joab, the son of Zeruiah. All these things and everything else that had been set apart were taken care of by Shelomith and his relatives.

Also all that Samuel the seer and Saul the son of Kish and Abner the son of Ner and Joab the son of Zeruiah had dedicated— all dedicated gifts were in the care of Shelomoth and his brothers.

Shelomoth and his relatives also cared for the gifts dedicated to the Lord by Samuel the seer, Saul son of Kish, Abner son of Ner, and Joab son of Zeruiah. All the other dedicated gifts were in their care, too.

All that the seer Samuel, Saul son of Kish, Abner son of Ner, and Joab son of Zeruiah had dedicated, along with everything else that had been dedicated, were in the care of Shelomith and his relatives.

扫罗执掌以色列的国权，常常攻击他四围的一切仇敌，就是摩押人、亚扪人、以东人，和琐巴诸王，并非利士人。他无论往何处去，都打败仇敌。扫罗奋勇攻击亚玛力人，救了以色列人脱离抢掠他们之人的手。扫罗的儿子是约拿单、亦施韦、麦基舒亚。他的两个女儿：长女名米拉，次女名米甲。扫罗的妻名叫亚希暖，是亚希玛斯的女儿。扫罗的元帅名叫押尼珥，是尼珥的儿子；尼珥是扫罗的叔叔。扫罗的父亲基士，押尼珥的父亲尼珥，都是亚别的儿子。

约押看见敌人在他前后摆阵，就从以色列军中挑选精兵，使他们对着亚兰人摆阵。其余的兵交与他兄弟亚比筛，对着亚扪人摆阵。约押对亚比筛说：“亚兰人若强过我，你就来帮助我；亚扪人若强过你，我就去帮助你。我们都当刚强，为本国的民和神的城邑作大丈夫。愿耶和华凭他的意旨而行！”于是，约押和跟随他的人前进攻打亚兰人；亚兰人在约押面前逃跑。亚扪人见亚兰人逃跑，他们也在亚比筛面前逃跑进城。约押就离开亚扪人那里，回耶路撒冷去了。
