And everything dedicated by Samuel the seer and by Saul son of Kish, Abner son of Ner and Joab son of Zeruiah, and all the other dedicated things were in the care of Shelomith and his relatives.

Samuel the prophet had set apart some things for God. Saul, the son of Kish, had set apart other things. So had Abner, the son of Ner. And so had Joab, the son of Zeruiah. All these things and everything else that had been set apart were taken care of by Shelomith and his relatives.

Also all that Samuel the seer and Saul the son of Kish and Abner the son of Ner and Joab the son of Zeruiah had dedicated— all dedicated gifts were in the care of Shelomoth and his brothers.

Shelomoth and his relatives also cared for the gifts dedicated to the Lord by Samuel the seer, Saul son of Kish, Abner son of Ner, and Joab son of Zeruiah. All the other dedicated gifts were in their care, too.

All that the seer Samuel, Saul son of Kish, Abner son of Ner, and Joab son of Zeruiah had dedicated, along with everything else that had been dedicated, were in the care of Shelomith and his relatives.

And all that Samuel the seer had dedicated, and Saul the son of Kish, Abner the son of Ner, and Joab the son of Zeruiah, everyone who had dedicated anything, all of this was under the care of Shelomoth and his relatives.

掃羅取得了以色列的王國以後，常常攻打四圍的一切仇敵，就是摩押人、亞捫人、以東人、瑣巴眾王和非利士人，他無論往哪裡去，都得到勝利（按照《馬索拉文本》，“得到勝利”作“懲罰”或“行邪惡”；現參照《七十士譯本》翻譯）。掃羅行事勇敢，擊敗了亞瑪力人，把以色列人從搶掠他們的人手中救了出來。掃羅的兒子是約拿單、亦施韋和麥基舒亞。他的兩個女兒，長女名叫米拉，次女名叫米甲。掃羅的妻子名叫亞希暖，是亞希瑪斯的女兒。掃羅軍隊的元帥名叫押尼珥，是尼珥的兒子，尼珥是掃羅的叔叔。掃羅的父親基士和押尼珥的父親尼珥都是亞別的兒子。

約押看見自己前後受敵，就從以色列所有的精兵中，挑選一部分出來，使他們擺陣去迎戰亞蘭人，他把其餘的人交在他兄弟亞比篩手下，使他們擺陣去迎戰亞捫人。約押對亞比篩說：“如果亞蘭人比我強，你就來幫助我。如果亞捫人比你強，我就去幫助你。你要剛強；為了我們的人民和我們神的眾城鎮，我們要剛強！願耶和華成全他看為美的事。”於是約押和與他在一起的人前進，攻擊亞蘭人；亞蘭人在約押面前逃跑。亞捫人看見亞蘭人逃跑，他們也在亞比篩面前逃跑，逃進城裡去了。約押就從亞捫人那裡回來，回到耶路撒冷去了。
