The duty of the Levites was to help Aaron’s descendants in the service of the temple of the Lord: to be in charge of the courtyards, the side rooms, the purification of all sacred things and the performance of other duties at the house of God.

The Levites had the duty of helping the members of Aaron’s family line. They helped them serve in the Lord’ s temple. They were in charge of the courtyards and the side rooms. They made all the sacred things pure and“ clean.” They also had other duties at the house of God.

For their duty was to assist the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of the Lord, having the care of the courts and the chambers, the cleansing of all that is holy, and any work for the service of the house of God.

The work of the Levites was to assist the priests, the descendants of Aaron, as they served at the house of the Lord. They also took care of the courtyards and side rooms, helped perform the ceremonies of purification, and served in many other ways in the house of God.

“ but their duty will be to assist the descendants of Aaron with the service of the LORD’s temple, being responsible for the courts and the chambers, the purification of all the holy things, and the work of the service of God’s temple—

For their office is to assist the sons of Aaron with the service of the house of the Lord, in the courtyards and in the chambers, and in the purification of all holy things, and the work of the service of the house of God,

Because their office[ was] to wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of the LORD, in the courts, and in the chambers, and in the purifying of all holy things, and the work of the service of the house of God;

Their job was to help Aaron’s descendants in the service of the LORD’s temple. They were to take care of the courtyards, the rooms, ceremonial purification of all holy items, and other jobs related to the service of God’s temple.

覲希西家王、告之曰、耶和華殿、燔祭之壇、陳餅之几、與其器皿、我俱潔之。昔亞哈士王犯罪、所棄器皿、我已滌理、置諸壇前。

前後之殿、其四周附墻作臺、以建複樓、

廊左右有窗、雕棗樹之狀、環殿之室與陛、亦若是。

可使利未族近前、侍於祭司亞倫側、而輔翼之、從事於會幕前、代亞倫及會眾、守所當守、守會幕之器、代以色列族、守所當守、從事於此。爾在以色列族中、必以利未人、悉畀亞倫及其子、使為助理。

耶何耶大子庇拿雅、統轄劊役皂隸、大闢眾子咸為牧伯。

其中二萬四千掌建耶和華殿、六千督工師理民人、

爾當恪守、迨於耶路撒冷、耶和華殿中、祭司諸長、利未人、以色列族中最著者前、再權衡之。

昔有廣廈、以藏禮物器皿、芬芳之品、及利未人謳歌者司閽者所收百穀之什一、新製之油、始熟之酒、與祭司之所得、今治理殿宇之祭司以利亞實、與多比聯為姻婭、灑掃斯室以居彼。

其人告我云、隙地前南北之廡、俱為聖室、詣耶和華之祭司、可在彼食聖物、即贖罪之祭品、以及禮物、蓋此廡至聖、

宰逾越節羔、利未人剝皮、畀血於祭司、祭司灑之。遂取燔祭之牛羊、按民世系、以匪頒之、俾獻耶和華、循摩西書所載、炙逾越節羔循其常例、其餘牲牷、烹於釜甑鼎鑊、即頒於眾、祭司務獻燔祭、及脂、至於薄暮、故利未人烹肉、為己亦為亞倫子孫、咸作祭司者、供其飲食。

內院有隙地、深二丈、外院有鋪石之處、其間有臺三層、

利未人潔己、奉事耶和華、以其道訓迪以色列人、約西亞告之曰、以色列王大闢子所羅門所建之殿、當置聖匱於中、毋庸肩負、役事爾之上帝耶和華、輔翼以色列民、爾當自備、按爾譜系、循爾班列、遵以色列王大闢及其子所羅門命、凡利未族可依同儕以色列之支派、立於聖所、宰逾越節羔、自潔其身、使爾同宗咸潔、遵耶和華所諭摩西之命。

室有三層、每層計之、得室三十、殿墻四周、又有小墻、附墻遍築眾室、不與殿墻相接、上層之室、愈高愈廣、四周之室皆若是、眾室之中、自下層至上層、緣梯曲折而登、我觀殿之四周、眾小室自下至上、各高一杖、即六尺、眾室之外墻、厚五尺、外墻之外、即殿之左右有兩廡、其間有隙地、廣二丈、
