The duty of the Levites was to help Aaron’s descendants in the service of the temple of the Lord: to be in charge of the courtyards, the side rooms, the purification of all sacred things and the performance of other duties at the house of God.

The Levites had the duty of helping the members of Aaron’s family line. They helped them serve in the Lord’ s temple. They were in charge of the courtyards and the side rooms. They made all the sacred things pure and“ clean.” They also had other duties at the house of God.

For their duty was to assist the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of the Lord, having the care of the courts and the chambers, the cleansing of all that is holy, and any work for the service of the house of God.

The work of the Levites was to assist the priests, the descendants of Aaron, as they served at the house of the Lord. They also took care of the courtyards and side rooms, helped perform the ceremonies of purification, and served in many other ways in the house of God.

“ but their duty will be to assist the descendants of Aaron with the service of the LORD’s temple, being responsible for the courts and the chambers, the purification of all the holy things, and the work of the service of God’s temple—

For their office is to assist the sons of Aaron with the service of the house of the Lord, in the courtyards and in the chambers, and in the purification of all holy things, and the work of the service of the house of God,

because their duty was to help the sons of Aaron in the service of the house of the Lord, in the courts and in the chambers, in the purifying of all holy things and the work of the service of the house of God,

For their office was to wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of Jehovah, in the courts, and in the chambers, and in the purifying of all holy things, even the work of the service of the house of God;

“ but their duty will be to assist the sons of Aaron with the service of the Lord’s temple, being responsible for the courts and the chambers, the purification of all the holy things, and the work of the service of God’s temple—

Because their office[ was] to wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of the LORD, in the courts, and in the chambers, and in the purifying of all holy things, and the work of the service of the house of God;

Their job was to help Aaron’s descendants in the service of the LORD’s temple. They were to take care of the courtyards, the rooms, ceremonial purification of all holy items, and other jobs related to the service of God’s temple.

For their office was to wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of Yahweh’s house, in the courts, and in the rooms, and in the purifying of all holy things, even the work of the service of God’s house;

吩咐人洁净这屋子，遂将神殿的器皿和素祭、乳香又搬进去。

又指示他祭司和利未人的班次与耶和华殿里各样的工作，并耶和华殿里一切器皿的样式，

犹大儿子谢拉的子孙、米示萨别的儿子毗他希雅辅助王办理犹大民的事。

利未人中有管理使用器皿的，按着数目拿出拿入；又有人管理器具和圣所的器皿，并细面、酒、油、乳香、香料。

领到耶和华的殿，进入神人伊基大利的儿子哈难众子的屋子。那屋子在首领的屋子旁边，在沙龙之子把门的玛西雅屋子以上。

对他们说：“利未人哪，当听我说：现在你们要洁净自己，又洁净耶和华你们列祖神的殿，从圣所中除去污秽之物。

于是，他们晋见希西家王，说：“我们已将耶和华的全殿和燔祭坛，并坛的一切器皿、陈设饼的桌子，与桌子的一切器皿都洁净了；并且亚哈斯王在位犯罪的时候所废弃的器皿，我们预备齐全，且洁净了，现今都在耶和华的坛前。”

靠着殿墙，围着外殿内殿，造了三层旁屋；

廊这边那边都有严紧的窗棂和棕树；殿的旁屋和槛就是这样。

“你使利未支派近前来，站在祭司亚伦面前好服侍他，替他和会众在会幕前守所吩咐的，办理帐幕的事。又要看守会幕的器具，并守所吩咐以色列人的，办理帐幕的事。你要将利未人给亚伦和他的儿子，因为他们是从以色列人中选出来给他的。

耶何耶大的儿子比拿雅统辖基利提人和比利提人。大卫的众子都在王的左右作领袖。

其中有二万四千人管理耶和华殿的事，有六千人作官长和士师，

你们当警醒看守，直到你们在耶路撒冷耶和华殿的库内，在祭司长和利未族长，并以色列的各族长面前过了秤。”

希西家吩咐在耶和华殿里预备仓房，他们就预备了。

先是蒙派管理我们神殿中库房的祭司以利亚实与多比雅结亲，便为他预备一间大屋子，就是从前收存素祭、乳香、器皿，和照命令供给利未人、歌唱的、守门的五谷、新酒，和油的十分之一，并归祭司举祭的屋子。

他对我说：“顺着空地的南屋北屋，都是圣屋；亲近耶和华的祭司当在那里吃至圣的物，也当在那里放至圣的物，就是素祭、赎罪祭，和赎愆祭，因此处为圣。

利未人宰了逾越节的羊羔，祭司从他们手里接过血来洒在坛上；利未人剥皮，将燔祭搬来，按着宗族的班次分给众民，好照摩西书上所写的，献给耶和华；献牛也是这样。他们按着常例，用火烤逾越节的羊羔。别的圣物用锅，用釜，用罐煮了，速速地送给众民。然后为自己和祭司预备祭物；因为祭司亚伦的子孙献燔祭和脂油，直到晚上。所以利未人为自己和祭司亚伦的子孙，预备祭物。

对着内院那二十肘宽之空地，又对着外院的铺石地，在第三层楼上有楼廊对着楼廊。

又对那归耶和华为圣、教训以色列人的利未人说：“你们将圣约柜安放在以色列王大卫儿子所罗门建造的殿里，不必再用肩扛抬。现在要侍奉耶和华你们的神，服侍他的民以色列。你们应当按着宗族，照着班次，遵以色列王大卫和他儿子所罗门所写的，自己预备。要按着你们的弟兄，这民宗族的班次，站在圣所，每班中要利未宗族的几个人。要宰逾越节的羊羔，洁净自己，为你们的弟兄预备了，好遵守耶和华藉摩西所吩咐的话。”

旁屋有三层，层叠而上，每层排列三十间。旁屋的梁木搁在殿墙坎上，免得插入殿墙。这围殿的旁屋越高越宽；因旁屋围殿悬叠而上，所以越上越宽，从下一层，由中一层，到上一层。我又见围着殿有高月台。旁屋的根基，高足一竿，就是六大肘。旁屋的外墙厚五肘。旁屋之外还有余地。在旁屋与对面的房屋中间有空地，宽二十肘。旁屋的门都向余地：一门向北，一门向南。周围的余地宽五肘。
