For their office was to wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of Jehovah, in the courts, and in the chambers, and in the purifying of all holy things, even the work of the service of the house of God;

The duty of the Levites was to help Aaron’s descendants in the service of the temple of the Lord: to be in charge of the courtyards, the side rooms, the purification of all sacred things and the performance of other duties at the house of God.

The Levites had the duty of helping the members of Aaron’s family line. They helped them serve in the Lord’ s temple. They were in charge of the courtyards and the side rooms. They made all the sacred things pure and“ clean.” They also had other duties at the house of God.

For their duty was to assist the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of the Lord, having the care of the courts and the chambers, the cleansing of all that is holy, and any work for the service of the house of God.

The work of the Levites was to assist the priests, the descendants of Aaron, as they served at the house of the Lord. They also took care of the courtyards and side rooms, helped perform the ceremonies of purification, and served in many other ways in the house of God.

“ but their duty will be to assist the descendants of Aaron with the service of the LORD’s temple, being responsible for the courts and the chambers, the purification of all the holy things, and the work of the service of God’s temple—

because their duty was to help the sons of Aaron in the service of the house of the Lord, in the courts and in the chambers, in the purifying of all holy things and the work of the service of the house of God,

“ but their duty will be to assist the sons of Aaron with the service of the Lord’s temple, being responsible for the courts and the chambers, the purification of all the holy things, and the work of the service of God’s temple—

Because their office[ was] to wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of the LORD, in the courts, and in the chambers, and in the purifying of all holy things, and the work of the service of the house of God;

Their job was to help Aaron’s descendants in the service of the LORD’s temple. They were to take care of the courtyards, the rooms, ceremonial purification of all holy items, and other jobs related to the service of God’s temple.

For their office was to wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of Yahweh’s house, in the courts, and in the rooms, and in the purifying of all holy things, even the work of the service of God’s house;

Then I commanded, and they cleansed the chambers: and thither brought I again the vessels of the house of God, with the meal- offerings and the frankincense.

also for the courses of the priests and the Levites, and for all the work of the service of the house of Jehovah, and for all the vessels of service in the house of Jehovah;

And Pethahiah the son of Meshezabel, of the children of Zerah the son of Judah, was at the king’s hand in all matters concerning the people.

And certain of them had charge of the vessels of service; for by count were these brought in and by count were these taken out.Some of them also were appointed over the furniture, and over all the vessels of the sanctuary, and over the fine flour, and the wine, and the oil, and the frankincense, and the spices.

and I brought them into the house of Jehovah, into the chamber of the sons of Hanan the son of Igdaliah, the man of God, which was by the chamber of the princes, which was above the chamber of Maaseiah the son of Shallum, the keeper of the threshold.

and said unto them, Hear me, ye Levites; now sanctify yourselves, and sanctify the house of Jehovah, the God of your fathers, and carry forth the filthiness out of the holy place.

Then they went in to Hezekiah the king within the palace, and said, We have cleansed all the house of Jehovah, and the altar of burnt- offering, with all the vessels thereof, and the table of showbread, with all the vessels thereof.Moreover all the vessels, which king Ahaz in his reign did cast away when he trespassed, have we prepared and sanctified; and, behold, they are before the altar of Jehovah.

And against the wall of the house he built stories round about, against the walls of the house round about, both of the temple and of the oracle; and he made side- chambers round about.

And there were closed windows and palm- trees on the one side and on the other side, on the sides of the porch: thus were the side- chambers of the house, and the thresholds.

Bring the tribe of Levi near, and set them before Aaron the priest, that they may minister unto him.And they shall keep his charge, and the charge of the whole congregation before the tent of meeting, to do the service of the tabernacle.And they shall keep all the furniture of the tent of meeting, and the charge of the children of Israel, to do the service of the tabernacle.And thou shalt give the Levites unto Aaron and to his sons: they are wholly given unto him on the behalf of the children of Israel.

and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and the sons of David were chief about the king.

Of these, twenty and four thousand were to oversee the work of the house of Jehovah; and six thousand were officers and judges;

Watch ye, and keep them, until ye weigh them before the chiefs of the priests and the Levites, and the princes of the fathers’ houses of Israel, at Jerusalem, in the chambers of the house of Jehovah.

Then Hezekiah commanded to prepare chambers in the house of Jehovah; and they prepared them;

Now before this, Eliashib the priest, who was appointed over the chambers of the house of our God, being allied unto Tobiah,had prepared for him a great chamber, where aforetime they laid the meal- offerings, the frankincense, and the vessels, and the tithes of the grain, the new wine, and the oil, which were given by commandment to the Levites, and the singers, and the porters; and the heave- offerings for the priests.

Then said he unto me, The north chambers and the south chambers, which are before the separate place, they are the holy chambers, where the priests that are near unto Jehovah shall eat the most holy things: there shall they lay the most holy things, and the meal- offering, and the sin- offering, and the trespass- offering; for the place is holy.

And they killed the passover, and the priests sprinkled the blood which they received of their hand, and the Levites flayed them.And they removed the burnt- offerings, that they might give them according to the divisions of the fathers’ houses of the children of the people, to offer unto Jehovah, as it is written in the book of Moses. And so did they with the oxen.And they roasted the passover with fire according to the ordinance: and the holy offerings boiled they in pots, and in caldrons, and in pans, and carried them quickly to all the children of the people.And afterward they prepared for themselves, and for the priests, because the priests the sons of Aaron were busied in offering the burnt- offerings and the fat until night: therefore the Levites prepared for themselves, and for the priests the sons of Aaron.

Over against the twenty cubits which belonged to the inner court, and over against the pavement which belonged to the outer court, was gallery against gallery in the third story.

And he said unto the Levites that taught all Israel, that were holy unto Jehovah, Put the holy ark in the house which Solomon the son of David king of Israel did build; there shall no more be a burden upon your shoulders. Now serve Jehovah your God, and his people Israel;and prepare yourselves after your fathers’ houses by your courses, according to the writing of David king of Israel, and according to the writing of Solomon his son.And stand in the holy place according to the divisions of the fathers’ houses of your brethren the children of the people, and let there be for each a portion of a fathers’ house of the Levites.And kill the passover, and sanctify yourselves, and prepare for your brethren, to do according to the word of Jehovah by Moses.

And the side- chambers were in three stories, one over another, and thirty in order; and they entered into the wall which belonged to the house for the side- chambers round about, that they might have hold therein, and not have hold in the wall of the house.And the side- chambers were broader as they encompassed the house higher and higher; for the encompassing of the house went higher and higher round about the house: therefore the breadth of the house continued upward; and so one went up from the lowest chamber to the highest by the middle chamber.I saw also that the house had a raised basement round about: the foundations of the side- chambers were a full reed of six great cubits.The thickness of the wall, which was for the side- chambers, on the outside, was five cubits: and that which was left was the place of the side- chambers that belonged to the house.And between the chambers was a breadth of twenty cubits round about the house on every side.And the doors of the side- chambers were toward the place that was left, one door toward the north, and another door toward the south: and the breadth of the place that was left was five cubits round about.
