David said to Solomon,“ My son, I had it in my heart to build a house to the name of the Lord my God.

他对所罗门说：“儿啊，我本想为我的上帝耶和华的名建造一座殿宇。

只是耶和华的话临到我说：‘你流了许多人的血，打了很多大仗；你不可为我的名建造殿宇，因为你在我面前流了许多人的血在地上。

對所羅門說：「我兒啊，我心裏本想為耶和華－我神的名建造殿宇，

大衛對所羅門說：「我兒啊，我心裏本想為耶和華－我上帝的名建造殿宇，

大衛對所羅門說：「我兒啊，我心裏本想為耶和華－我神的名建造殿宇，

他對所羅門說：「兒啊，我本想為我的上帝耶和華的名建造一座殿宇。

只是耶和華的話臨到我說：‘你流了許多人的血，打了很多大仗；你不可為我的名建造殿宇，因為你在我面前流了許多人的血在地上。

只是永恆主的話傳與我說：「你流了許多人的血，打了幾次大仗；你不可為我的名建殿，因為你在我眼前使許多人的血流在地上。

謂之曰、我子歟、我有意為我上帝耶和華之名建室、

曰、吾子與、我欲為我上帝耶和華建殿、為籲厥名之所、素有此心、

謂之曰、我子、我意欲為主我天主之名建殿、

David said to Solomon:“ My son, I had it in my heart to build a house for the Name of the Lord my God.

David said to Solomon,“ My son, with all my heart I wanted to build a house for the Lord my God. That’s where his Name will be.

“ My son, I wanted to build a Temple to honor the name of the Lord my God,” David told him.

“ My son,” David said to Solomon,“ It was in my heart to build a house for the name of the LORD my God,

David said to Solomon,“ My son, I had intended to build a house for the name of the Lord my God.

And David said to Solomon:“ My son, as for me, it was in my mind to build a house to the name of the Lord my God;

And David said to Solomon his son, As for me, it was in my heart to build a house unto the name of Jehovah my God.

“ My son,” David said to Solomon,“ It was in my heart to build a house for the name of Yahweh my God,

And David said to Solomon, My son, as for me, it was in my mind to build an house unto the name of the LORD my God:

David said to Solomon:“ My son, I really wanted to build a temple to honor the LORD my God.

David said to Solomon his son,“ As for me, it was in my heart to build a house to the name of Yahweh my God.

until I find a place for the Lord, a dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob.”

But you shall seek the place that the Lord your God will choose out of all your tribes to put his name and make his habitation there. There you shall go,

Now it was in the heart of David my father to build a house for the name of the Lord, the God of Israel.But the Lord said to David my father,‘ Whereas it was in your heart to build a house for my name, you did well that it was in your heart.Nevertheless, it is not you who shall build the house, but your son who shall be born to you shall build the house for my name.’

then to the place that the Lord your God will choose, to make his name dwell there, there you shall bring all that I command you: your burnt offerings and your sacrifices, your tithes and the contribution that you present, and all your finest vow offerings that you vow to the Lord.

‘ Since the day that I brought my people Israel out of Egypt, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Israel in which to build a house, that my name might be there. But I chose David to be over my people Israel.’Now it was in the heart of David my father to build a house for the name of the Lord, the God of Israel.But the Lord said to David my father,‘ Whereas it was in your heart to build a house for my name, you did well that it was in your heart.Nevertheless, you shall not build the house, but your son who shall be born to you shall build the house for my name.’Now the Lord has fulfilled his promise that he made. For I have risen in the place of David my father, and sit on the throne of Israel, as the Lord promised, and I have built the house for the name of the Lord, the God of Israel.

If the place that the Lord your God will choose to put his name there is too far from you, then you may kill any of your herd or your flock, which the Lord has given you, as I have commanded you, and you may eat within your towns whenever you desire.

And the Lord said to him,“ I have heard your prayer and your plea, which you have made before me. I have consecrated this house that you have built, by putting my name there forever. My eyes and my heart will be there for all time.

the king said to Nathan the prophet,“ See now, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of God dwells in a tent.”And Nathan said to the king,“ Go, do all that is in your heart, for the Lord is with you.”

Behold, I am about to build a house for the name of the Lord my God and dedicate it to him for the burning of incense of sweet spices before him, and for the regular arrangement of the showbread, and for burnt offerings morning and evening, on the Sabbaths and the new moons and the appointed feasts of the Lord our God, as ordained forever for Israel.

Now when David lived in his house, David said to Nathan the prophet,“ Behold, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of the covenant of the Lord is under a tent.”And Nathan said to David,“ Do all that is in your heart, for God is with you.”But that same night the word of the Lord came to Nathan,“ Go and tell my servant David,‘ Thus says the Lord: It is not you who will build me a house to dwell in.For I have not lived in a house since the day I brought up Israel to this day, but I have gone from tent to tent and from dwelling to dwelling.In all places where I have moved with all Israel, did I speak a word with any of the judges of Israel, whom I commanded to shepherd my people, saying,“ Why have you not built me a house of cedar?”’Now, therefore, thus shall you say to my servant David,‘ Thus says the Lord of hosts, I took you from the pasture, from following the sheep, to be prince over my people Israel,and I have been with you wherever you have gone and have cut off all your enemies from before you. And I will make for you a name, like the name of the great ones of the earth.And I will appoint a place for my people Israel and will plant them, that they may dwell in their own place and be disturbed no more. And violent men shall waste them no more, as formerly,from the time that I appointed judges over my people Israel. And I will subdue all your enemies. Moreover, I declare to you that the Lord will build you a house.When your days are fulfilled to walk with your fathers, I will raise up your offspring after you, one of your own sons, and I will establish his kingdom.He shall build a house for me, and I will establish his throne forever.I will be to him a father, and he shall be to me a son. I will not take my steadfast love from him, as I took it from him who was before you,but I will confirm him in my house and in my kingdom forever, and his throne shall be established forever.’”In accordance with all these words, and in accordance with all this vision, Nathan spoke to David.

that your eyes may be open night and day toward this house, the place of which you have said,‘ My name shall be there,’ that you may listen to the prayer that your servant offers toward this place.

Moreover, in addition to all that I have provided for the holy house, I have a treasure of my own of gold and silver, and because of my devotion to the house of my God I give it to the house of my God:

Then King David rose to his feet and said:“ Hear me, my brothers and my people. I had it in my heart to build a house of rest for the ark of the covenant of the Lord and for the footstool of our God, and I made preparations for building.But God said to me,‘ You may not build a house for my name, for you are a man of war and have shed blood.’Yet the Lord God of Israel chose me from all my father’s house to be king over Israel forever. For he chose Judah as leader, and in the house of Judah my father’s house, and among my father’s sons he took pleasure in me to make me king over all Israel.And of all my sons( for the Lord has given me many sons) he has chosen Solomon my son to sit on the throne of the kingdom of the Lord over Israel.He said to me,‘ It is Solomon your son who shall build my house and my courts, for I have chosen him to be my son, and I will be his father.I will establish his kingdom forever if he continues strong in keeping my commandments and my rules, as he is today.’Now therefore in the sight of all Israel, the assembly of the Lord, and in the hearing of our God, observe and seek out all the commandments of the Lord your God, that you may possess this good land and leave it for an inheritance to your children after you forever.“ And you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father and serve him with a whole heart and with a willing mind, for the Lord searches all hearts and understands every plan and thought. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will cast you off forever.Be careful now, for the Lord has chosen you to build a house for the sanctuary; be strong and do it.”Then David gave Solomon his son the plan of the vestibule of the temple, and of its houses, its treasuries, its upper rooms, and its inner chambers, and of the room for the mercy seat;and the plan of all that he had in mind for the courts of the house of the Lord, all the surrounding chambers, the treasuries of the house of God, and the treasuries for dedicated gifts;for the divisions of the priests and of the Levites, and all the work of the service in the house of the Lord; for all the vessels for the service in the house of the Lord,the weight of gold for all golden vessels for each service, the weight of silver vessels for each service,the weight of the golden lampstands and their lamps, the weight of gold for each lampstand and its lamps, the weight of silver for a lampstand and its lamps, according to the use of each lampstand in the service,the weight of gold for each table for the showbread, the silver for the silver tables,and pure gold for the forks, the basins and the cups; for the golden bowls and the weight of each; for the silver bowls and the weight of each;for the altar of incense made of refined gold, and its weight; also his plan for the golden chariot of the cherubim that spread their wings and covered the ark of the covenant of the Lord.“ All this he made clear to me in writing from the hand of the Lord, all the work to be done according to the plan.”Then David said to Solomon his son,“ Be strong and courageous and do it. Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed, for the Lord God, even my God, is with you. He will not leave you or forsake you, until all the work for the service of the house of the Lord is finished.And behold the divisions of the priests and the Levites for all the service of the house of God; and with you in all the work will be every willing man who has skill for any kind of service; also the officers and all the people will be wholly at your command.”

May the God who has caused his name to dwell there overthrow any king or people who shall put out a hand to alter this, or to destroy this house of God that is in Jerusalem. I Darius make a decree; let it be done with all diligence.”
