你若謹慎遵行永恆主指着以色列所吩咐摩西的律例典章，那麼你就得以順利。你只要剛強壯膽；不要懼怕；不要驚慌。

但愿耶和华赐你聪明智慧，好治理以色列国，遵行耶和华你神的律法。

May the Lord give you discretion and understanding when he puts you in command over Israel, so that you may keep the law of the Lord your God.

May the Lord give you good sense. May he give you understanding when he makes you king over Israel. Then you will keep the law of the Lord your God.

Only, may the Lord grant you discretion and understanding, that when he gives you charge over Israel you may keep the law of the Lord your God.

And may the Lord give you wisdom and understanding, that you may obey the Law of the Lord your God as you rule over Israel.

Above all, may the LORD give you insight and understanding when he puts you in charge of Israel so that you may keep the law of the LORD your God.

求你賜給你僕人能聽案件的心，可以為你人民判斷，能夠辨別好壞；因為誰能為你這數量這麼重的人民判斷呢？』所羅門祈求這事，主很滿意。上帝對他說：『你既祈求這事，不為自己祈求長壽，不為自己祈求財富，也不祈求滅仇敵的性命，單單祈求聰明、可以聽案件，那麼我就照你的話行吧；看哪，我賜給你智慧聰明的心；在你以前沒有像你的，在你以後也沒有興起來像你的。

求你現在賜給我智慧學識，我好在這人民面前出入；因為誰能為你這麼龐大數目的人民判斷呢？』

精明人的智慧在乎明白自己的道路；愚頑人的愚妄卻有欺詐性。

你們中間若有欠缺智慧的，他應當從那大量賜予萬人而不斥責人的上帝求，就必有所賜給他的。

因為永恆主賜予智慧；知識和明達都由他口中而出；他給正直人珍藏謀略的效果，給行為純全的人做盾牌；

上帝啊，將你的判斷才德賜給王哦；將你的公義賜給王的兒子哦！

因為是我要賜給你們口才和智慧，就是一切敵對你們的人所不能反對或辯駁的。

我們若守他的誡命，在這一點、我們就知道我們認識了他了。

所羅門王愛上了許多外籍女子：像法老的女兒、摩押女子、亞捫女子、以東女子、西頓女子、赫人女子等。關於這些國的人、永恆主曾經對以色列人說：『你們不可去在他們中間，他們也不可來在你們中間：因為他們的確會使你們的心偏離、去隨從他們的神』；但所羅門卻戀慕着這些女子、而愛了她們。所羅門有七百個后妃、公主；還有三百個嬪妃；他的妻妾使他的心偏離了。所羅門年老的時候、他的妻妾使他的心偏離、去隨從別的神；他的心總不純全全地歸向永恆主他的上帝，不像他父親大衛那樣。因為所羅門隨從西頓人的女神亞斯他錄、和亞捫人可憎的神米勒公。所羅門行了永恆主所看為壞的事，不滿心滿懷地跟從永恆主、不像他父親大衛跟從永恆主那樣子。那時所羅門為摩押可憎的神基抹和亞捫人可憎的神摩洛在耶路撒冷東面的山上築了一座邱壇。他為他所有的外籍妻妾、那些向自己的神燻祭宰牲的、都這樣行。永恆主向所羅門發怒，因為他的心偏離了永恆主以色列的上帝，就是曾經兩次對他顯現過，又曾經為了這事吩咐他不可隨從別的神的；他卻沒有遵守永恆主所吩咐的。

所以你們要謹慎遵行，因為這在列族之民眼中看來、就是你們的智慧聰明；他們聽到這一切律例，就會說：這個大國的人真是有智慧有聰明的一族啊。
