May the Lord give you discretion and understanding when he puts you in command over Israel, so that you may keep the law of the Lord your God.

May the Lord give you good sense. May he give you understanding when he makes you king over Israel. Then you will keep the law of the Lord your God.

Only, may the Lord grant you discretion and understanding, that when he gives you charge over Israel you may keep the law of the Lord your God.

And may the Lord give you wisdom and understanding, that you may obey the Law of the Lord your God as you rule over Israel.

Above all, may the LORD give you insight and understanding when he puts you in charge of Israel so that you may keep the law of the LORD your God.

现在求你赐我智慧和知识，使我可以领导这人民；否则，谁能治理你这众多的人民呢？”

精明人的智慧能分辨自己的道路；愚昧人的愚妄却欺骗自己。

你们中间若有人缺少智慧，就当向那厚赐众人，而且不斥责人的神祈求，他就必得着。

因为耶和华赐人智慧，知识和聪明都出自他的口。他为正直人珍藏大智慧，给行为完全的人作盾牌；

因为我必赐给你们口才、智慧，是你们所有的敌人不能抵抗，也不能驳倒的。

我们若遵守神的命令，这样，就知道我们已经认识他。

所罗门王除了法老的女儿以外，又宠爱许多外族女子，就是摩押女子、亚扪女子、以东女子、西顿女子和赫人女子等。关于这些国家的人，耶和华曾经吩咐以色列人：“你们不可与他们往来通婚，否则他们必会引诱你们的心，去随从他们的神。”但所罗门深深爱恋这些女子。所罗门有妃七百，都是公主；有嫔三百。他的妃嫔使他的心偏离了神。所罗门年老的时候，他的妃嫔诱惑他的心偏离了神去随从别的神。他的心不像他的父亲大卫那样完全归于耶和华他的神。因为所罗门随从西顿人的女神亚斯他录，和亚扪人可憎的偶像米勒公。所罗门行耶和华看为恶的事，不效法他的父亲大卫完完全全跟从耶和华。那时，所罗门为摩押人可憎的偶像基抹和亚扪人可憎的偶像摩洛，在耶路撒冷东面的山上建造邱坛。他为他娶自外族的妃嫔都这样作；她们都向自己的神烧香献祭。耶和华向所罗门发怒，因为他的心偏离了曾经两次向他显现的耶和华以色列的神。耶和华为了这事曾经吩咐他，不可随从别的神，可是他没有遵守耶和华吩咐的。

所以你们要谨守遵行，因为在万民的眼中看来，这就是你们的智慧和聪明；他们一听见这一切律例，就必定说：‘这大国的人真是有智慧，有聪明啊。’
