Solomon began building the LORD’s temple in Jerusalem on Mount Moriah, where the LORD had appeared to his father David. This was the place that David prepared at the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.

Before they even call out, I will respond; while they are still speaking, I will hear.

The Israelites said to Samuel,“ Keep crying out to the LORD our God so that he may save us from the hand of the Philistines!”So Samuel took a nursing lamb and offered it as a whole burnt offering to the LORD. Samuel cried out to the LORD on Israel’s behalf, and the LORD answered him.

In every place where I cause my name to be honored I will come to you and I will bless you.If you make me an altar of stone, you must not build it of stones shaped with tools, for if you use your tool on it you have defiled it.

Praise the LORD our God! Worship on his holy hill, for the LORD our God is holy!

When Solomon finished praying, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices, and the LORD’s splendor filled the temple.
