所罗门在耶路撒冷，在耶和华向他父亲大卫显现过的摩利亚山上，就是在耶布斯人阿珥楠的禾场上，大卫预备的地方，开工建造耶和华的殿。

那时，他们还未呼求，我就应允，他们还在说话，我就垂听。

以色列人对撒母耳说：“请你不要静默，为我们呼求耶和华我们的神吧，好叫他拯救我们脱离非利士人的手。”撒母耳就牵来一只还在吃奶的羊羔，把它作全牲的燔祭献给耶和华，又为以色列人向耶和华呼求，耶和华就应允他。

于是有耶和华的火降下来，吞灭了燔祭、木柴、石头和尘土，连沟里的水也烧干了。

他求告我，我必应允他；他在患难中，我必与他同在；我必拯救他，使他得尊荣。

主啊！求你开我的嘴，使我的口宣扬赞美你的话。

摩西把耶和华的一切话都记下了；清早起来，在山下筑了一座祭坛，按着以色列十二支派立了十二根柱子。又派了以色列人中的青年人去献燔祭，又向耶和华杀牛献为平安祭。

火焰从祭坛上往天升起的时候，耶和华的使者在祭坛上的火焰中也升上去了；玛挪亚和他的妻子看见了，就俯伏在地。

你们呼求你们神的名，我也呼求耶和华的名。那降火来显示回答的神就是神了。”众人都回答：“这话说得很好！”

你要为我筑一座土坛，把你的燔祭、平安祭和牛羊献在坛上；在我使人记念我名的地方，我都必到你那里去赐福你。你若是为我筑一座石坛，不可用凿过的石头来建筑，因为你在石头上一动用工具，就把坛污秽了。

你们要尊崇耶和华我们的神，在他的圣山上敬拜，因为耶和华我们的神是圣洁的。

所罗门祷告完了，有火从天上降下来，烧尽了燔祭和其他的祭品；耶和华的荣光充满了那殿。
