所罗门在耶路撒冷的摩利亚山上动工兴建耶和华的殿，殿址在耶布斯人阿珥楠的麦场，就是大卫指定的地方。耶和华曾在那里向他父亲大卫显现。

他们还没有求告，我就已经应允；他们正要祷告，我就已经垂听。

他们对撒母耳说：“请你为我们不停地呼求我们的上帝耶和华，求祂从非利士人手中拯救我们。”撒母耳把一只还在吃奶的羊献给耶和华作全牲燔祭。他为以色列人呼求耶和华，耶和华垂听了他的祈求。

于是，耶和华降火烧尽了祭物、木柴、石头、尘土，甚至沟里的水。

他求告我，我就答应他；他遭遇患难，我必与他同在。我必拯救他，赐他尊贵的地位。

主啊，求你开我的口，我要向你发出赞美。

摩西把耶和华的这些话记录下来。第二天清晨，摩西在山脚筑了一座坛，立了十二根柱子代表以色列的十二支派。他又吩咐以色列的青年去给耶和华献燔祭，又献上公牛作平安祭。

火焰从祭坛上升起的时候，耶和华的天使也在祭坛的火焰中升上去了。玛挪亚夫妇见状，便俯伏在地。

然后，你们求告你们神明的名字，我求告耶和华，那听祷告降下火来的就是上帝。”众人非常赞同他的主意。

你们要为我筑一座土坛，把你们的牛羊献在坛上作燔祭和平安祭。凡是我使自己的名号被尊崇的地方，我会亲临那里赐福给你们。你们若为我筑石坛，不可用凿刻的石头，因为用工具凿刻的石头会玷污祭坛。

要尊崇我们的上帝耶和华，在祂的圣山上敬拜祂，因为我们的上帝耶和华是圣洁的。

所罗门祷告完毕，就有火从天上降下，烧尽了燔祭和其他祭物。殿里充满了耶和华的荣光，
