亞哈聽見了這些話，就撕裂衣服，身穿麻布，禁食，睡在麻布上，垂頭喪氣地走來走去。

摩西、亞倫就將臉俯伏在以色列人會眾全體大眾面前。

摩西、亞倫就臉伏於地說：『上帝啊，萬人之靈的上帝啊，一個人犯罪、你就要惱怒全會眾麼？』

在以色列營前面行走的上帝使者、轉到他們的後邊去；雲柱也從他們前面轉去立在他們的後邊來，在埃及營和以色列營中間。一邊是雲是黑暗：一邊照亮着黑夜；終夜彼此不能相近。

希西家王聽見，就撕裂衣服，披上麻布，進了永恆主的殿。

以利沙禱告說：『永恆主啊，開他的眼，使他能看見哦。』永恆主開了那僮僕的眼，僮僕就看見滿山都是火車火馬圍繞着以利沙。

至於我呢、我在他們有病時、卻穿着麻衣，以禁食刻苦自己。我所祈禱的都回到自己懷中。我出入往來、待他像朋友弟兄；我悲哀屈身、如同哀悼母親。

約書亞靠近耶利哥的時候，舉目觀看，忽見有一個人正在對面站着，手裏拿着拔出來的刀；約書亞走到那人跟前，對他說：『你是為我們呢？還是為我們的敵人呢？』那人說：『不是的；我現在來、是作為永恆主的軍長。』約書亞就臉伏於地拜他，對他說：『我主有甚麼話吩咐僕人呢？』

這消息傳到尼尼微王那裏，他就從寶座上起來，脫下朝服，披上麻布，坐在爐灰中。又出通告傳遍尼尼微說：『王和大臣有諭旨說：人和牲口、牛羣羊羣、甚麼都不可嘗，草不可喫，水也不可喝。人和牲口都要披上麻布；要極力呼求上帝；各人要回轉過來、離開他的壞行徑，丟棄手中的強暴；

於是把那人趕逐出去，又在伊甸園東邊安設基路伯拿着發火燄的旋轉劍，來把守生命樹的路。

當下永恆主開了巴蘭的眼，他就看見永恆主的使者在路上立着，手裏拿着拔出來的刀，巴蘭便伏臉下拜。
