亞哈聽見這話，就撕裂衣服，禁食，身穿麻布，睡臥也穿着麻布，並且緩緩而行。

摩西、亞倫就俯伏在以色列全會眾面前。

摩西、亞倫就俯伏在地，說：「神，萬人之靈的神啊，一人犯罪，你就要向全會眾發怒嗎？」

在以色列營前行走神的使者，轉到他們後邊去；雲柱也從他們前邊轉到他們後邊立住。在埃及營和以色列營中間有雲柱，一邊黑暗，一邊發光，終夜兩下不得相近。

希西家王聽見，就撕裂衣服，披上麻布，進了耶和華的殿；

以利沙禱告說：「耶和華啊，求你開這少年人的眼目，使他能看見。」耶和華開他的眼目，他就看見滿山有火車火馬圍繞以利沙。

至於我，當他們有病的時候，我便穿麻衣，禁食，刻苦己心；我所求的都歸到自己的懷中。我這樣行，好像他是我的朋友，我的弟兄；我屈身悲哀，如同人為母親哀痛。

約書亞靠近耶利哥的時候，舉目觀看，不料，有一個人手裏有拔出來的刀，對面站立。約書亞到他那裏，問他說：「你是幫助我們呢，是幫助我們敵人呢？」他回答說：「不是的，我來是要作耶和華軍隊的元帥。」約書亞就俯伏在地下拜，說：「我主有甚麼話吩咐僕人。」

這信息傳到尼尼微王的耳中，他就下了寶座，脫下朝服，披上麻布，坐在灰中。他又使人遍告尼尼微通城，說：「王和大臣有令，人不可嘗甚麼，牲畜、牛羊不可吃草，也不可喝水。人與牲畜都當披上麻布；人要切切求告神。各人回頭離開所行的惡道，丟棄手中的強暴。

於是把他趕出去了；又在伊甸園的東邊安設基路伯和四面轉動發火焰的劍，要把守生命樹的道路。

當時，耶和華使巴蘭的眼目明亮，他就看見耶和華的使者站在路上，手裏有拔出來的刀，巴蘭便低頭俯伏在地。
