You can have three years when there will not be enough food in the land. You can have three months when your enemies will sweep you away. They will catch up with you. They will destroy you with their swords. Or you can have three days when the sword of the Lord will punish you. That means there would be three days of plague in the land. My angel would strike down people in every part of Israel.’ So take your pick. Tell me how to answer the one who sent me.”

大衛在位年間有饑荒，一連三年，大衛求問耶和華，耶和華說：「掃羅和他家犯了流人血之罪，因為他殺死了基遍人。」

被刀劍刺殺的勝過因飢餓而死的；飢餓者由於缺乏田裏的出產就消瘦而亡。

「你若不聽從耶和華－你上帝的話，不謹守遵行他的一切誡命律例，就是我今日所吩咐你的，這一切的詛咒必臨到你身上，追隨你：

因為耶和華要走遍埃及，施行擊殺，他看見血在門楣上和兩邊的門框上，耶和華就必逾越那門，不讓滅命者進你們的家，施行擊殺。

我要使刀劍臨到你們，報復你們的背約。你們若被趕入城中，我要降瘟疫在你們中間，把你們交在仇敵手中。我要斷絕你們糧食的供應，使十個女人用一個烤爐給你們烤餅，按配給的定量秤給你們。你們要吃，卻吃不飽。「如果這樣，你們還不聽從我，行事與我作對，我就要向你們發烈怒，行事與你們作對，因你們的罪，加重七倍懲罰你們。你們要吃你們兒子的肉，也要吃你們女兒的肉。

耶和華要用癆病、熱病、發炎、高燒、刀劍、焚風和霉爛攻擊你；這些要追趕你，直到你滅亡。

當夜，耶和華的使者出去，在亞述營中殺了十八萬五千人。清早有人起來，看哪，都是死屍。

以利沙曾對他救活的孩子的母親說：「你和你的全家要起身，往你可住的地方去住，因為耶和華已令饑荒降在這地七年。」

我對你們說實話，在以利亞的時候，天閉塞了三年六個月，遍地有大饑荒，那時，以色列中有許多寡婦，

上帝派遣使者去毀滅耶路撒冷，剛要毀滅的時候，耶和華看見就改變心意，不降這災了。他吩咐那滅城的天使說：「夠了，住手吧！」耶和華的使者正站在耶布斯人阿珥楠的禾場那裏。大衛舉目，看見耶和華的使者站在天和地之間，手裏有拔出來的刀，伸在耶路撒冷以上。大衛和長老都披上麻布，臉伏於地。

於是迦得來到大衛那裏告訴他，問他：「你要國中有七年的饑荒呢？或是你在敵人面前逃跑，被追趕三個月呢？或是在你國中有三日的瘟疫呢？現在你要考慮思量，我怎樣去回覆那差我來的。」大衛對迦得說：「我很為難。我們寧願落在耶和華的手裏，因為他有豐盛的憐憫；我不願落在人的手裏。」

「耶和華必使你在仇敵面前潰敗。你從一條路去攻擊他們，必從七條路逃跑。地上萬國必因你而驚駭。

希律不歸榮耀給上帝，所以主的使者立刻擊打他，他被蟲咬，就斷了氣。

耶和華的刀劍哪，你要到幾時才止息呢？要入鞘，安靜不動。

他們必吃你牲畜所生的和你土地所產的，直到你被除滅。你的五穀、新酒和新的油，以及牛犢、羔羊，他都不給你留下，直到使你滅亡。他們必在你的各城圍困你，直到你在全地所倚靠、高大堅固的城牆都倒塌。他們必在耶和華－你上帝所賜給你全地的各城圍困你。

此後，我看見四位天使站在地的四角，執掌地上四方的風，使風不吹在地上、海上和各種樹上。我又看見另有一位天使從日出之地上來，拿着永生上帝的印。他向那得到權柄能傷害地和海的四位天使大聲喊着，說：「你們不可傷害地、海和樹林，等我們在我們上帝眾僕人的額上蓋了印。」

你們所懼怕的刀劍在埃及地必追上你們，你們所懼怕的饑荒在埃及要緊緊跟隨你們，你們必死在那裏。

至於你們倖存的人，我要使他們在敵人之地心中驚慌，甚至風吹落葉的聲音也把他們嚇跑。他們要逃避，像人逃避刀劍，雖無人追趕，卻要跌倒。雖然無人追趕，他們卻要彼此絆倒，像逃避刀劍一樣。你們在仇敵面前必站立不住。

住在基列的提斯比人以利亞對亞哈說：「我指着所事奉永生的耶和華－以色列的上帝起誓，這幾年我若不禱告，必不降露水，也不下雨。」

我要向你們變臉，使你們敗在仇敵的面前。恨惡你們的必管轄你們；無人追趕，你們卻要逃跑。

耶和華必攻擊你，使你膝上腿上，從腳掌到頭頂，都長滿了毒瘡，無法醫治。

或者我叫瘟疫流行那地，把我的憤怒帶着血傾在其中，好使人與牲畜從其中剪除；雖有挪亞、但以理、約伯在那裏，主耶和華說：我指着我的永生起誓，他們不能救兒子女兒，只能因自己的義救自己的命。「主耶和華如此說：我若將這四樣大災，就是刀劍、饑荒、惡獸、瘟疫降在耶路撒冷，將人與牲畜從其中剪除，豈不是更嚴重嗎？

滅命的來到曠野中一切光禿的高地；耶和華的刀從地這邊直到地那邊，盡行殺滅，凡血肉之軀都不得平安。

耶和華必以火與刀審判凡有血肉之軀的，被耶和華所殺的很多。

耶和華必用埃及人的瘡、潰瘍、癬和疥攻擊你，使你不得醫治。

也不怕黑夜流行的瘟疫，或是午間滅人的災害。

你們要吃儲存的陳糧，又要為新糧清理陳糧。

世代的終結也要這樣：天使要出來，把惡人從義人中分別出來，丟在火爐裏，在那裏要哀哭切齒了。」
