You can have three years when there will not be enough food in the land. You can have three months when your enemies will sweep you away. They will catch up with you. They will destroy you with their swords. Or you can have three days when the sword of the Lord will punish you. That means there would be three days of plague in the land. My angel would strike down people in every part of Israel.’ So take your pick. Tell me how to answer the one who sent me.”

The Lord will strike you with wasting disease, with fever and inflammation, with scorching heat and drought, with blight and mildew, which will plague you until you perish. (niv)

That night the angel of the Lord went out and put to death a hundred and eighty- five thousand in the Assyrian camp. When the people got up the next morning— there were all the dead bodies! (niv)

Now Elisha had said to the woman whose son he had restored to life,“ Go away with your family and stay for a while wherever you can, because the Lord has decreed a famine in the land that will last seven years.” (niv)

I assure you that there were many widows in Israel in Elijah’s time, when the sky was shut for three and a half years and there was a severe famine throughout the land. (niv)

So Gad went to David and said to him,“ Shall there come on you three years of famine in your land? Or three months of fleeing from your enemies while they pursue you? Or three days of plague in your land? Now then, think it over and decide how I should answer the one who sent me.”David said to Gad,“ I am in deep distress. Let us fall into the hands of the Lord, for his mercy is great; but do not let me fall into human hands.” (niv)

The Lord will cause you to be defeated before your enemies. You will come at them from one direction but flee from them in seven, and you will become a thing of horror to all the kingdoms on earth. (niv)

After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth to prevent any wind from blowing on the land or on the sea or on any tree.Then I saw another angel coming up from the east, having the seal of the living God. He called out in a loud voice to the four angels who had been given power to harm the land and the sea:“ Do not harm the land or the sea or the trees until we put a seal on the foreheads of the servants of our God.” (niv)

then the sword you fear will overtake you there, and the famine you dread will follow you into Egypt, and there you will die. (niv)

“‘ As for those of you who are left, I will make their hearts so fearful in the lands of their enemies that the sound of a windblown leaf will put them to flight. They will run as though fleeing from the sword, and they will fall, even though no one is pursuing them.They will stumble over one another as though fleeing from the sword, even though no one is pursuing them. Now Elijah the Tishbite, from Tishbe in Gilead, said to Ahab,“ As the Lord, the God of Israel, lives, whom I serve, there will be neither dew nor rain in the next few years except at my word.” (niv)

I will set my face against you so that you will be defeated by your enemies; those who hate you will rule over you, and you will flee even when no one is pursuing you. (niv)

The Lord will afflict your knees and legs with painful boils that cannot be cured, spreading from the soles of your feet to the top of your head. (niv)

“ Or if I send a plague into that land and pour out my wrath on it through bloodshed, killing its people and their animals,as surely as I live, declares the Sovereign Lord, even if Noah, Daniel and Job were in it, they could save neither son nor daughter. They would save only themselves by their righteousness.“ For this is what the Sovereign Lord says: How much worse will it be when I send against Jerusalem my four dreadful judgments— sword and famine and wild beasts and plague— to kill its men and their animals! Over all the barren heights in the desert destroyers will swarm, for the sword of the Lord will devour from one end of the land to the other; no one will be safe. (niv)

You will still be eating last year’s harvest when you will have to move it out to make room for the new. (niv)

This is how it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come and separate the wicked from the righteousand throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. (niv)
