You can have three years when there will not be enough food in the land. You can have three months when your enemies will sweep you away. They will catch up with you. They will destroy you with their swords. Or you can have three days when the sword of the Lord will punish you. That means there would be three days of plague in the land. My angel would strike down people in every part of Israel.’ So take your pick. Tell me how to answer the one who sent me.”

在大衛執政期間，連續有三年饑荒，大衛就求問耶和華。耶和華說：「發生這饑荒是因為掃羅一家人的血債，他們殺害了基遍人。」

因為你們毀約，我要用戰禍報應你們。你們躲進各城的時候，我要在你們中間降下瘟疫，使你們落在敵人手裡。我要斷絕你們的糧源。那時候，十個婦女將用一個烤爐烤餅，按定量分餅給你們，你們吃卻吃不飽。「如果你們仍然不肯聽從我，繼續與我作對，我也要與你們作對，向你們發烈怒，把比先前嚴厲七倍的懲罰加在你們身上。你們要吃自己兒女的肉。

「祂要使你們遭受癆病、熱症、瘧疾、炙熱、刀劍、乾旱和黴爛之災，直到你們滅亡。

當晚，耶和華的天使到亞述營中殺了十八萬五千人。人們清早起來，發現到處是屍體。

以利沙曾經救活了一位書念婦人的兒子。他對那婦人說：「你和家人要離開這裡去別處寄居，因為耶和華已決定使這裡遭受七年饑荒。」

事實上，在以利亞先知的時代，天乾旱無雨達三年半之久，遍地有大饑荒。那時，以色列國有許多寡婦，

上帝差遣天使去毀滅耶路撒冷。天使正要毀滅的時候，耶和華見了就心生憐憫，對施行毀滅的天使說：「夠了，住手吧！」當時，耶和華的天使正站在耶布斯人阿珥楠的麥場上。大衛舉目看見耶和華的天使站在天地之間，手握著已出鞘的刀，指向耶路撒冷。大衛和眾長老都身披麻衣，臉伏於地。

迦得就來見大衛，對他說：「你願意國內有七年饑荒呢？還是被敵人追殺三個月呢？還是國內發生三天瘟疫呢？請你考慮好後告訴我，我好回覆那差我來的。」大衛說：「我實在為難！不過我寧願落在耶和華的手中，也不願落在人的手中，因為耶和華有無限的憐憫。」

「祂要使你們被敵人擊敗、潰不成軍、四散逃命，下場令天下萬國驚懼。

希律沒有把榮耀歸給上帝，主的天使立刻懲罰他，他當場被蟲子咬死了。

你們大喊，『耶和華的刀啊，你何時才停下來呢？求你入鞘吧！停下來吧！』

他們要吃光你們的牛羊、五穀、新酒和油，直到消滅你們。在你們的上帝耶和華所賜給你們的土地上，他們要把你們圍困在各個城邑中，直到你們所依賴的高大堅固的城牆都倒塌。

這些事情之後，我看見四位天使分別站在地的四個角落控制著四面的風，使風不再吹向地面、海洋和樹木。我又看見一位天使從東方日出之地上來，手裡拿著永活上帝的印。他對那領受權柄能傷害地和海的四位天使大聲說：「我們還沒在上帝的奴僕額上蓋印之前，你們不可傷害地、海和樹木。」

你們所害怕的戰爭和饑荒必緊緊地跟著你們。你們必死在埃及。

「我要使你們當中的那些倖存者在敵國心驚膽戰，過著風聲鶴唳、惶恐不安的生活。即使無人追趕，他們也將倉皇逃命，互相絆倒，如同躲避刀劍一樣。你們必無力抵擋敵人。

有一位先知名叫以利亞，是基列的提斯比人。他對亞哈說：「我憑我事奉的以色列的上帝——永活的耶和華起誓，如果我不禱告，這幾年必沒有雨水和甘露。」

我要嚴懲你們，使你們敗在敵人手下；你們要被那些恨你們的人統治，即使沒有人追趕，你們也要逃命。

「耶和華要使你們從頭到腳長滿毒瘡，無藥可治。

倘若我叫瘟疫在那裡肆虐，發烈怒毀滅那裡的人和牲畜，縱然挪亞、但以理和約伯在那裡，我憑我的永恆起誓，他們也不能救自己的兒女，只能因義行而自己得救。這是主耶和華說的。「主耶和華說，『我要把戰禍、饑荒、猛獸和瘟疫這四大刑罰降在耶路撒冷，毀滅人和牲畜。

殺戮者已來到曠野中光禿的山嶺，耶和華使刀劍橫掃全境，無人倖免。

因為耶和華要用火和劍審判世人，殺死許多人。

「祂要使你們患埃及的膿瘡、腫瘤和癬疥，無藥可治。

或黑暗中橫行的瘟疫，或正午肆虐的災難。

你們存糧很多，甚至要搬出陳糧來儲存新糧。

世界末日的時候也是這樣。天使必把惡人從義人中揀出來，丟在火爐裡，讓惡人在那裡哀哭切齒。
