雅比斯在眾兄弟中最受人尊重，他母親給他起名叫雅比斯，意思說：“我生產時十分痛苦。”雅比斯呼求以色列的神說：“深願你大大地賜福給我，擴張我的境界，你的能力常與我同在，保護我免遭災禍，不受痛苦。”神就應允了他所求的。

你們怎可以說：“我們是智慧人，我們有耶和華的律法”呢？事實上，經學家虛假的筆已把律法變成謊言了。

這位以斯拉是一位經學家，精通耶和華以色列的神賜給摩西的律法；因為耶和華他神的手幫助他，所以王賜他所求的一切，他就從巴比倫上來。
