雅比斯在众兄弟中最受人尊重，他母亲给他起名叫雅比斯，意思说：“我生产时十分痛苦。”雅比斯呼求以色列的神说：“深愿你大大地赐福给我，扩张我的境界，你的能力常与我同在，保护我免遭灾祸，不受痛苦。”神就应允了他所求的。

你们怎可以说：“我们是智慧人，我们有耶和华的律法”呢？事实上，经学家虚假的笔已把律法变成谎言了。

这位以斯拉是一位经学家，精通耶和华以色列的神赐给摩西的律法；因为耶和华他神的手帮助他，所以王赐他所求的一切，他就从巴比伦上来。
