他使战争止息，直到地极；他把弓折毁，把矛砍断，把战车用火焚烧。

以色列众人听说扫罗攻打了非利士人的驻军，又听说非利士人憎恨以色列人，就应召在吉甲跟随扫罗。

神又兴起一个人敌挡所罗门，就是以利亚大的儿子利逊。他是从他主人琐巴王哈大底谢那里逃出来的。大卫击杀琐巴人的时候，利逊招聚了一些人，自己作了这些土匪的领袖。他前往大马士革，住在那里，又在大马士革作王。

以色列王亚哈问犹大王约沙法：“你愿意和我一同到基列的拉末去吗？”他回答：“你我不分彼此；我的人民就是你的人民；我必和你一同作战。”

那时，以色列王和犹大王约沙法各自坐在王位上，穿着朝服，坐在撒玛利亚城门口的广场上；所有的先知都在他们面前说预言。

就对他们说：“愿耶和华鉴察你们，审判你们，因为你们使我们的香气在法老眼前和他的臣仆眼前都发臭了，把刀放在他们的手里来杀我们。”

所以那弃绝这命令的，不是弃绝人，而是弃绝把他自己的圣灵赐给你们的那位神。

于是亚撒从耶和华的殿和王宫的库房里取出金银来，送给住在大马士革的亚兰王便．哈达，说：“你父亲和我父亲曾经立约，你和我也要立约。现在我把金银送给你，请你去废除你和以色列王巴沙订立的约，好使他离开我而去。”

人人都偏离了正道，一同变成污秽；没有行善的，连一个也没有。

亚吉相信了大卫，心里说：“他在自己的族人以色列中留下了臭名，他必永远作我的仆人了。”

约坦和亚扪人的王交战，战胜了他们；那一年，亚扪人就献给他三千四百公斤银子，一千公吨小麦，一千公吨大麦；第二年和第三年，亚扪人也献给他这个数目。

扫罗取得了以色列的王国以后，常常攻打四围的一切仇敌，就是摩押人、亚扪人、以东人、琐巴众王和非利士人，他无论往哪里去，都得到胜利（按照《马索拉文本》，“得到胜利”作“惩罚”或“行邪恶”；现参照《七十士译本》翻译）。

琐巴王利合的儿子哈大底谢，往幼发拉底河去要夺回他统治这河的势力的时候，大卫就攻打他。
