But the princes of the children of Ammon said to Hanun, Thinkest thou that David doth honor thy father, in that he hath sent comforters unto thee? are not his servants come unto thee to search, and to overthrow, and to spy out the land?

但亚扪人的领袖对哈嫩说：“大卫派人来安慰你，你看他是要尊敬你父亲吗？他的臣仆来见你，不是为了要窥探侦察，而倾覆这地吗？”

但亚扪人的领袖对哈嫩说：“大卫派人来安慰你，你看他是要尊敬你父亲吗？他的臣仆来见你，不是为了要窥探侦察，而倾覆这地吗？”

亚扪的官长却对哈嫩说：“大卫派人来安慰你，你以为他是来吊唁你父亲吗？他的臣仆来见你不过是来探听虚实，想征服这地方。”

但亚扪人的众领袖对哈嫩说：“大卫差派这些慰问的人到你这里来，你以为他是尊敬你父亲吗？他的臣仆来见你，不是为了窥探、倾覆、侦察这地吗？”

但亞捫人的眾領袖對哈嫩說：“大衛差派這些慰問的人到你這裡來，你以為他是尊敬你父親嗎？他的臣僕來見你，不是為了窺探、傾覆、偵察這地嗎？”

但是亞捫人的首領對哈嫩說：大衛差遣慰問者到你這裏來、你看他是敬重你父親麼？他的臣僕到你這裏來、豈不是要窺察、傾覆、偵探這地麼？』

亞捫族之牧伯謂哈嫩曰、大衛遣唁者詣爾、爾意大衛果敬爾父乎、其僕詣爾、詎非窺察此地、而滅之耶、

亞捫族諸伯告哈嫩曰、爾謂大闢唁爾父喪、其意豈在尊崇乎。蓋遣其臣、詳察我地、使我敗亡耳。

亞捫之侯伯謂哈嫩曰、大衛遣使來唁王、王以為大衛果敬王父乎、其臣僕來見王、乃欲窺探斯地以傾滅之、

the Ammonite commanders said to Hanun,“ Do you think David is honoring your father by sending envoys to you to express sympathy? Haven’t his envoys come to you only to explore and spy out the country and overthrow it?”

The Ammonite commanders spoke to Hanun. They said,“ David has sent messengers to tell you he is sad. They say he wants to honor your father. But the real reason they’ve come is to look the land over. They want to destroy it.”

But the princes of the Ammonites said to Hanun,“ Do you think, because David has sent comforters to you, that he is honoring your father? Have not his servants come to you to search and to overthrow and to spy out the land?”

the Ammonite commanders said to Hanun,“ Do you really think these men are coming here to honor your father? No! David has sent them to spy out the land so they can come in and conquer it!”

the Ammonite leaders said to Hanun,“ Just because David has sent men with condolences for you, do you really believe he’s showing respect for your father? Instead, haven’t his emissaries come in order to scout out, overthrow, and spy on the land?”

But the commanders among the sons of Ammon said to Hanun,“ Do you think that David is honoring your father, in that he has sent comforters to you? Have his servants not come to you to search, to demolish, and to spy out the land?”

And the princes of the people of Ammon said to Hanun,“ Do you think that David really honors your father because he has sent comforters to you? Did his servants not come to you to search and to overthrow and to spy out the land?”

the Ammonite leaders said to Hanun,“ Just because David has sent men with condolences for you, do you really believe he’s showing respect for your father? Instead, hasn’t David sent his emissaries in order to scout out, overthrow, and spy on the land?”

But the princes of the children of Ammon said to Hanun, Thinkest thou that David doth honour thy father, that he hath sent comforters unto thee? are not his servants come unto thee for to search, and to overthrow, and to spy out the land?

the Ammonite officials said to Hanun,“ Do you really think David is trying to honor your father by sending these messengers to express his sympathy? No, his servants have come to you so they can get information and spy out the land!”

But the princes of the children of Ammon said to Hanun,“ Do you think that David honors your father, in that he has sent comforters to you? Haven’t his servants come to you to search, to overthrow, and to spy out the land?”

doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not its own, is not provoked, taketh not account of evil;rejoiceth not in unrighteousness, but rejoiceth with the truth;beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

And the house of Joseph sent to spy out Beth- el.( Now the name of the city beforetime was Luz.)And the watchers saw a man come forth out of the city, and they said unto him, Show us, we pray thee, the entrance into the city, and we will deal kindly with thee.

But the princes of the Philistines were wroth with him; and the princes of the Philistines said unto him, Make the man return, that he may go back to his place where thou hast appointed him, and let him not go down with us to battle, lest in the battle he become an adversary to us: for wherewith should this fellow reconcile himself unto his lord? should it not be with the heads of these men?

And Achish answered and said to David, I know that thou art good in my sight, as an angel of God: notwithstanding the princes of the Philistines have said, He shall not go up with us to the battle.

And the children of Dan sent of their family five men from their whole number, men of valor, from Zorah, and from Eshtaol, to spy out the land, and to search it; and they said unto them, Go, search the land. And they came to the hill- country of Ephraim, unto the house of Micah, and lodged there.

And Joshua the son of Nun sent out of Shittim two men as spies secretly, saying, Go, view the land, and Jericho. And they went and came into the house of a harlot whose name was Rahab, and lay there.And it was told the king of Jericho, saying, Behold, there came men in hither to- night of the children of Israel to search out the land.And the king of Jericho sent unto Rahab, saying, Bring forth the men that are come to thee, that are entered into thy house; for they are come to search out all the land.
