For in that case the LORD has given them into our hand– it will be a sign to us.”When they made themselves known to the Philistine garrison, the Philistines said,“ Look! The Hebrews are coming out of the holes in which they hid themselves.”Then the men of the garrison said to Jonathan and his armor bearer,“ Come on up to us so we can teach you a thing or two!” Then Jonathan said to his armor bearer,“ Come up behind me, for the LORD has given them into the hand of Israel!”

Be strong and act like men, you Philistines, or else you will wind up serving the Hebrews the way they have served you! Act like men and fight!”

Be strong and courageous! Do not fear or tremble before them, for the LORD your God is the one who is going with you. He will not fail you or abandon you!”Then Moses called out to Joshua in the presence of all Israel,“ Be strong and courageous, for you will accompany these people to the land that the LORD promised to give their ancestors, and you will enable them to inherit it.

So Samuel told him everything. He did not hold back anything from him. Eli said,“ The LORD will do what he pleases.”

Make sure you are very strong and brave! Carefully obey all the law my servant Moses charged you to keep! Do not swerve from it to the right or to the left, so that you may be successful in all you do.
