Benaiah, the son of Jehoiada, was commander over the Kerethites and Pelethites. And King David’s sons were the chief officials who served at his side.

and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and David’s sons were the chief officials in the service of the king.

Benaiah son of Jehoiada was captain of the king’s bodyguard. And David’s sons served as the king’s chief assistants.

王所有的臣僕都從王的身邊走過去，所有的基利提人、比利提人和迦特人，就是從迦特來跟從王的六百人，都從王面前走過去。

於是撒督祭司、拿單先知和耶何耶大的兒子比拿雅，以及基利提人和比利提人都下去，使所羅門騎上大衛王的騾子，送他到基訓去。

住在沿海地帶的人，基列提的國民哪！你們有禍了。這是耶和華攻擊你們的話：“非利士人之地迦南啊！我必毀滅你，使你那裡沒有人居住。

他們的職任是協助亞倫的子孫，辦理耶和華殿的事務，管理院子、廂房和潔淨一切聖物，以及辦理神殿的事務；

於是耶何耶大的兒子比拿雅上去擊殺他，把他殺死，葬在曠野約押自己的家中。王任命耶何耶大的兒子比拿雅取代約押統領軍隊；又任命撒督祭司取代亞比亞他的職位。

王差派撒督祭司、拿單先知和耶何耶大的兒子比拿雅，以及基利提人和比利提人，與所羅門同去。他們使所羅門騎上王的騾子。

於是約押的人，基利提人、比利提人和所有的勇士，都跟隨亞比篩出去。他們從耶路撒冷出去，追趕比基利的兒子示巴。

他的榮譽比那“三十勇士”高（按照《馬索拉文本》，“他的榮譽比那‘三十勇士’高”作“他不是在‘三勇士’中最尊貴嗎﹖”；現參照《敘利亞譯本》翻譯），所以成為他們的領袖；不過，卻不及“三勇士”。甲薛人耶何耶大的兒子比拿雅，是一個力氣很大的人，作過許多大事。他曾經擊殺了摩押人的兩個勇將；又在下雪的時候，下到坑裡去擊殺了一隻獅子。他還擊殺了一個體格高大的埃及人。這埃及人手裡有矛，比拿雅只拿著棍子下去與他對抗；結果他把埃及人手中的矛槍奪了過來，用那矛槍殺死他。這些是耶何耶大的兒子比拿雅所作的事。他與“三勇士”齊名。他的榮譽比那“三十勇士”高，不過，卻不及“三勇士”。大衛立他作侍衛長。
