Benaiah, the son of Jehoiada, was commander over the Kerethites and Pelethites. And King David’s sons were the chief officials who served at his side.

and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and David’s sons were the chief officials in the service of the king.

Benaiah son of Jehoiada was captain of the king’s bodyguard. And David’s sons served as the king’s chief assistants.

王所有的臣仆都从王的身边走过去，所有的基利提人、比利提人和迦特人，就是从迦特来跟从王的六百人，都从王面前走过去。

于是撒督祭司、拿单先知和耶何耶大的儿子比拿雅，以及基利提人和比利提人都下去，使所罗门骑上大卫王的骡子，送他到基训去。

住在沿海地带的人，基列提的国民哪！你们有祸了。这是耶和华攻击你们的话：“非利士人之地迦南啊！我必毁灭你，使你那里没有人居住。

他们的职任是协助亚伦的子孙，办理耶和华殿的事务，管理院子、厢房和洁净一切圣物，以及办理神殿的事务；

于是耶何耶大的儿子比拿雅上去击杀他，把他杀死，葬在旷野约押自己的家中。王任命耶何耶大的儿子比拿雅取代约押统领军队；又任命撒督祭司取代亚比亚他的职位。

王差派撒督祭司、拿单先知和耶何耶大的儿子比拿雅，以及基利提人和比利提人，与所罗门同去。他们使所罗门骑上王的骡子。

于是约押的人，基利提人、比利提人和所有的勇士，都跟随亚比筛出去。他们从耶路撒冷出去，追赶比基利的儿子示巴。

他的荣誉比那“三十勇士”高（按照《马索拉文本》，“他的荣誉比那‘三十勇士’高”作“他不是在‘三勇士’中最尊贵吗﹖”；现参照《叙利亚译本》翻译），所以成为他们的领袖；不过，却不及“三勇士”。甲薛人耶何耶大的儿子比拿雅，是一个力气很大的人，作过许多大事。他曾经击杀了摩押人的两个勇将；又在下雪的时候，下到坑里去击杀了一只狮子。他还击杀了一个体格高大的埃及人。这埃及人手里有矛，比拿雅只拿着棍子下去与他对抗；结果他把埃及人手中的矛枪夺了过来，用那矛枪杀死他。这些是耶何耶大的儿子比拿雅所作的事。他与“三勇士”齐名。他的荣誉比那“三十勇士”高，不过，却不及“三勇士”。大卫立他作侍卫长。

约押作以色列所有军队的统帅。耶何耶大的儿子比拿雅统辖基利提人和比利提人；
