掃羅知大闢為耶和華所祐、亦為次女米甲所愛、

貧乏者流、處於塵埃、居於糞攘、主舉而升之兮、使與民牧、爰居爰處兮、

大闢所行、無不亨通、耶和華祐焉。

拿單告大闢曰、上帝祐爾、任意以行。

庇大庇羅太二邑、屬於哈大底泄、大闢取其銅、不可勝數。○

不論所往、我眷祐爾、絕爾諸敵、錫爾大名、同於斯世之豪傑。

我惟耶和華是賴、敬愛之兮、

大闢遣兵戍大馬色、於是亞蘭人為大闢僕、而進貢。大闢不論所往、得耶和華祐。

我必祐爾、爾所向往、我必庇護、使歸斯土、不汝遐棄、吾所許者、必踐其言。○

非利士人攻以色列族。以色列族遁在吉破山、見殺者眾。非利士人追襲掃羅、殺其三子、約拿單、亞庇拿撻、麥基舒亞。掃羅戰敗、矢人射之、身負重傷、謂持兵之士曰、汝其拔刃刺我、恐未受割者刺我、加以狎侮。持兵之士懼甚、不敢奉命、掃羅觸刃而死。持兵之士見掃羅已死、亦觸刃偕亡。當日掃羅與三子、及持兵之士、暨其群從、俱亡。

曾是上帝、以今所行、猶為不足、復有應許、欲昌我後、至於恆久、耶和華上帝錫我、得同於斯世之豪傑。

大闢在鹽谷、殺以東人一萬八千、播揚其名、然後旋軍、遣兵戍以東、而以東人咸為大闢僕、大闢不論所往、得耶和華祐。

耶和華拯大闢於群敵、及掃羅手、大闢乃作歌以頌之、

萬有之主雅各之上帝耶和華、祐予衛予兮。

我追襲敵後、若未殲滅、不復旋轅。我攻擊之、並吞之、使仆足下、一蹶不振。爾賜以膂力、能於戰鬥、使逆者至於敗亡。俾我勝敵、憾我者滅之。

萬有之主、雅各之上帝耶和華、祐予衛予兮。

又曰、彼或為耶和華所擊、或至逝世之期而終、或沒於行伍之間、我指耶和華以誓、

有權者、黜其位、卑者、舉而上、
