I have been with you wherever you have gone, and I have cut off all your enemies from before you. Now I will make your name like the names of the greatest men on earth.

I have been with you everywhere you have gone. I destroyed all your enemies when you were attacking them. Now I will make you famous. Your name will be just as respected as the names of the most important people on earth.

掃羅見耶和華與大衛同在，女兒米甲又愛大衛，

他從灰塵裏抬舉貧寒的人，從糞堆中提拔貧窮的人，使他們與貴族同坐，與本國的貴族同坐。

大衛所做的每一件事都精明，耶和華也與他同在。

拿單對大衛說：「你可以完全照你的心意去做，因為上帝與你同在。」

大衛王又從哈大底謝的比他和比羅他二城奪取了許多的銅。

你無論往哪裏去，我都與你同在，剪除你所有的仇敵。我必使你得大名，好像世上偉人的名一樣。

耶和華我的力量啊，我愛你！

於是大衛在大馬士革的亞蘭設立軍營，亞蘭人就臣服大衛，向他進貢。大衛無論往哪裏去，耶和華都使他得勝。

看哪，我必與你同在，無論你往哪裏去，我必保佑你，領你歸回這地。我總不離棄你，直到我實現了對你所說的話。」

非利士人攻打以色列。以色列人在非利士人面前逃跑，很多人在基利波山被殺仆倒。非利士人緊追掃羅和他的兒子，殺了掃羅的兒子約拿單、亞比拿達、麥基‧舒亞。攻擊掃羅的戰事激烈，弓箭手追上他，他被弓箭手射中，傷勢很重。掃羅吩咐拿他兵器的人說：「你拔出刀來，把我刺死，免得那些未受割禮的人來刺我，凌辱我。」但拿兵器的人不肯，因為他非常懼怕。於是掃羅拿起刀來，伏在刀上。拿兵器的人見掃羅已死，也伏在刀上跟他一起死。這樣，掃羅和他三個兒子，與拿他兵器的人，以及他所有的人，都在那日一起死了。

上帝啊，這在你眼中還看為小，你又說到你僕人的家將來的情況。耶和華上帝啊，你看顧我好像看顧尊貴的人。

大衛得了名聲。當他回來的時候，在鹽谷擊殺了一萬八千以東人。大衛在以東設立軍營；他在全以東設立軍營，以東人就都臣服他。大衛無論往哪裏去，耶和華都使他得勝。

當耶和華救大衛脫離所有仇敵和掃羅之手的日子，他用這詩的歌詞向耶和華說話。

萬軍之耶和華與我們同在，雅各的上帝是我們的避難所！

我追趕我的仇敵，消滅他們；若不將他們滅絕，我總不歸回。我滅絕了他們，打傷了他們，使他們站不起來；他們都倒在我的腳下。你曾以力量束我的腰，使我能爭戰；也曾使那起來攻擊我的，都服在我以下。你又使我的仇敵在我面前轉身逃跑，使我能殲滅那恨我的人。

萬軍之耶和華與我們同在，雅各的上帝是我們的避難所！（細拉）

大衛又說：「我指着永生的耶和華起誓，他或被耶和華擊殺，或死期到了，或出戰陣亡，

他叫有權柄的失位，叫卑賤的升高。
