I have not dwelt in a house from the day I brought Israel up out of Egypt to this day. I have moved from one tent site to another, from one dwelling place to another.

『正月初一日，你要把會棚的帳幕立起來。將法櫃安設在那裏，用帷帳將櫃遮掩着。

「自從我領我人民以色列出埃及的日子以來、我都未曾從以色列眾族派中選擇一座城來建殿、讓我的名可以長在那裏，我只揀選了大衛來管理我人民以色列。」

誰有力量能為他建殿呢？天和天上之天尚且容不下他；我、我是誰，可以為他建殿麼？不過在他面前燔祭燒香罷了。

永恆主這麼說：『天是我的座位，地是我的腳凳；你們要在哪裏為我建殿呢？哪裏是我安居所的地方呢？永恆主發神諭說：這一切都是我手造的，這一切都是我的。但以下這種人我倒要垂看：我要垂看卑遜謙虛、心靈傷痛，一聽見我的話、就戰戰兢兢的人。

『然而上帝果真和人同住在地上麼？看哪，天和天上之天尚且容不下你，何況我所建的這殿呢？

眾人將永恆主的櫃抬進去，安置在它的地方、在帳棚中間大衛所搭的。大衛便在永恆主面前獻上燔祭和平安祭。

他們將永恆主的櫃和會棚以及帳棚中一切聖的器具都運上來，是祭司們和利未人們把這一切運上來的。

『在野地裏曾有法櫃之帳幕給了我們的祖宗，照那對摩西說話者所規定、叫他按所看見的模樣去作的。這帳幕、我們的祖宗、包括約書亞、既相繼承受了，就在取得外國人之地為基業、上帝把他們從我們祖宗面前趕出去的時候、將它帶進來，直存到大衛的日子。大衛在上帝眼前蒙恩，求為雅各之上帝尋得幕所。然而是所羅門才為上帝建殿的。其實至高者不住在人手造的；正如神言人所說的：「天是給我做座位的，地是我腳的凳子；你們要為我建造甚麼樣的殿呢，主說,哪裏是我安息的地方呢？這一切不都是我手造的麼？」

『然而上帝果真住在地上麼？看哪，天和天上之天尚且容不下你，何況我所建的這殿呢？
