I have not dwelt in a house from the day I brought Israel up out of Egypt to this day. I have moved from one tent site to another, from one dwelling place to another.

“正月初一日，你要把會幕的帳幕豎立起來，把法櫃安放在裡面，用幔子把法櫃遮蓋。

‘自從我把我的子民以色列領出埃及的日子以來，我未曾在以色列的各支派中揀選一座城，建造殿宇，作我名的居所；但我揀選了大衛治理我的子民以色列。’

但誰能為他建造殿宇呢？天和天上的天也容不下他；我是誰，怎能為他建造殿宇？我不過在他面前燒香罷了。

耶和華這樣說：“天是我的寶座，地是我的腳凳；你們要在哪裡為我建造殿宇呢？怎樣的地方才是我安息的所在呢？”耶和華說：“這一切都是我親手所造的，所以它們就有了。以下這種人是我要垂顧的，就是謙卑、心靈傷痛、因我的話而戰兢的人。

“神真的要和人住在地上嗎？看哪，天和天上的天也容不下你，何況我建造的這殿呢？

他們把耶和華的約櫃抬進去，安放在帳棚裡它自己的地方，就是安放在大衛給它支搭的帳棚裡，大衛就在耶和華面前獻上燔祭和平安祭。

祭司和利未人把耶和華的約櫃、會幕和會幕裡的一切聖器具都運上來。

“我們的祖先在曠野有作證的帳幕，就是跟摩西談話的那位指示他，依照他看見的樣式做的。我們的祖先相繼承受了這帳幕，神把外族人從他們面前趕走以後，他們就同約書亞把帳幕帶進所得為業的地方，直到大衛的日子。大衛在神面前蒙了恩，就求為雅各的神找個居所，而由所羅門為他建造殿宇。其實至高者並不住人手所造的，正如先知說：‘主說：天是我的寶座，地是我的腳凳，你們要為我建造怎樣的殿呢？哪裡是我安息的地方呢？這一切不都是我手所造的嗎？’

“神真的住在地上嗎？看哪！天和天上的天尚且不能容納你，何況我建造的這殿呢？
